My 1983 CJ7 bell housing was replaced with this part, and it certainly made the clutch more stiff to push in. It was, however, pretty tricky to install, so use some silicone to smooth the process down.
Mark the adjustment rod before you remove it!.
This appears to be high-quality to me, however it was bought for a 1980 CJ 7 with the stock four-speed transmission. That boot isn't correct for speed and it isn't the right size. As you can see in the following illustration, this boot has a square shape, while the required boot has a more rectangular shape, more like the other boots listed under "Jeep Fork Boots". I see on the site that this "fits" my application, but it really doesn't. These boots are not the best fit for me, as they appear closer to my needs. It'll take me some time to research more. It is a good idea to check your application before placing an order. Would have loved to have done that!.
A new Advance Adapters boot p/n 716332 costs I paid $5 for it and it's the same as the other. There is no 5 that fits either. There are other options as well, but as far as I can tell, the 3l vortec to the NV4500 advance adapters bell housing work nicely. The Omix-S is $150 cheaper, so save $15 An Ada version is available.
I have this on a 1985 Jeep CJ7 with a clutch fork, and it fits perfectly. transmission is the T177 (but it should also work on the T176 and T178 just as well). It did not rip in anyway, and the installation to fit the boot into the hole was just difficult enough to give me confidence it is going to keep 'crud' from getting into the hole.
Exactly what I needed. The bell housing is kept clean by preventing dirt, debris, and water from entering. It's what I used on the Jeep CJ5 of 1981.
There are 4 speeds on a 5L engine.
This part was purchased to replace the one on a 1983 Jeep T-type The transmission number is 176. It's well fitted and works The original lasts long, so I hope the new one does too.
I've used it on my F250 and it works perfectly.
