I used a 5/16 adapter plate and these extra long dowel pins to connect my old big block Buick 455 to a modern 4L80E. They perform admirably. br>br>Hint: if you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using the words "innov Tack weld an L-shape to the old dowel pins if they won't move. Tap them out with a hammer after attaching a shaped metal bar to the end of them. With this method, I was able to easily remove a few stubborn pins. Just make sure you don't weld for too long because you don't want too much heat to enter the block. Also, make sure the ground clamp is on the scrap metal rather than the engine, as you don't want electricity flowing through your block.
These are exactly what I needed to make an adapter between a Pontiac 400 and a 4L80E transmission.
With a mid plate, it's ideal for a car or dragster.
It's a perfect fit, and it's a little longer than the original. I would buy this item again without hesitation.
It performed admirably and was well constructed.
Only drawback is that the ones I received were silver rather than black.
