Questions & Answers

Which of these switches is the D1539j and which is the D1586h? I'm interested in purchasing a 2010 Silverado work truck 4x4 5 with ext cab and 4WD if I need both or just one. ?

A switch 1539j directs the vehicle's braking system when the brake pedal can be adjusted, while d1586h directs the braking system when no adjustment can be made.

The electric brake control for towing will this fix the bakes issue?

My understanding of how this will affect electric brakes is that it won't help, but I am not sure. I was not able to engage the cruise control in my case because it was not engaged.

What is the compatibility of this part ?

Johnny, yes, it does. There was an adjustable pedal on my 2007 Escalade and it was great. The installation was a bit difficult because you had to lie on your back under the dash to replace the old unit, but it saved me a lot of money by avoiding the need to visit a dealer for cruise control problems. We replaced the brake light switch and the cruise control began working as if it had never been broken before.

Could this switch replace the all-black switch in a Silverado 1500 extended cab 2010? It is black & white, can it be used for that application? Can anyone tell me if they have done this?

Based on the answers about the fitting on the product itself, it appears that it would be a good match. As well as the tires, I replaced the switch that was previously all black on my 2011 Silverado. There have been no problems over the past year.

You should definitely check this out! In the last few days, I took my 2007 Chevy Suburban on a trip
5/5

At about 100 miles into the trip, the dash lights with "service traction control" and "stabiltrak off" started to blink. All 400 miles of my trip I had this cycling on and off. In addition, I noticed AFM was not switching from V8 to V4. After doing some research online, I found horror stories of replacing the maf sensor, $2000 plus repair bills, etc.
I found an article that said that the cruise control sometimes didn't work and service traction control messages appeared on the There has been an occasional issue with the cruise control. I decided to give it a try just because my budget is under $12 dollars.
I am glad I did that. I learned this little part is involved in so many things when I researched it. The issue I was experiencing has been resolved. It only took maybe 15 minutes to perform the change with a flat bladed screwdriver and a 10 mm wrench. This is a very inexpensive place to start if you are experiencing any of the problems listed above.

My Cruise Control has been fixed Yukon, GMC
5/5

A 2011 GMC Yukon XL 1500 is on the way to me. The cruise control of the vehicle stopped working completely and was only working intermittently. It was still lit on the steering wheel but had completely gone out on the dash, as well as the cruise control was Online articles stated that 90% of cruise control problems, like the one I was experiencing, are caused by this component. Since it was only $12, I figured I would give it a try (dealer wanted more than $500 to fix it). After I found it, I exchanged it (it is under the dashboard, right above the brake pedal) - it took me only a few minutes. There is one bolt and one nut Please clip this. My cruise control was fixed thanks to this. The system works perfectly again now.

Cruise control did not engage when the vehicle was traveling at highway speeds
4/5

A set of contacts for the brake lights and a separate set for releasing the cruise control are provided by this switch. It used to be that the light on the steering wheel would indicate cruise control had already been turned on, but pressing engage (coast) or re-enabling it would not change the cruise control settings. The ratcheting of cruise control would not occur when using the engage (accelerate) button. With a 10mm ratchet type combination wrench and a flat blade screwdriver, you can install the switch easily. I removed my old switch and installed this new one in about 10 minutes. Some of the universities are excellent There are video tutorials on how to install it on YouTube.

For $10, you can have a cruise control issue fixed on Suburban, Tahoe, and Silverados in less than five minutes
5/5

I had a 2007 Suburban whose cruise control would illuminate on the steering wheel but would not As time went on, the CC began to suddenly stop working once the brake pedal was pressed. Initially, it worked as expected when initially engaged, but stopped working once the brake pedal was depressed. Upon returning home I searched several forums and found several posts describing the issue was this switch there is even a you tube video that shows I ultimately decided to take a $10 gamble and ordered the switch on a Thursday, and it arrived on Saturday morning. (Google '2007 suburban cruise control brake switch' for many results, including a video. ) My first step was to retrieve a 10MM wrench, flashlight, and small screwdriver as suggested, I then moved the driver seat as far back as I could and laid down in the foot well, looking up, and the switch was readily visible. As you can see from the video, I did not see a bolt as shown, but I did see the retainer clip, so I reached up and inserted my small screwdriver into the bottom and twisted while pulling down, and the clip immediately fell to There is no way it can be this easy! The thought came to me. I reached up and pulled on the metal bar, and the switch immediately popped out. Surprised, I put the new switch over the bar and slid it in place where the old one was, and attached the retainer clip and wire until it was secure. The whole process took me about two minutes. I spent less than five minutes on this. I would like to point out that I found lots of white grease all over the place! While driving, I had to check the cruise control. I cleaned my hands before driving, and it was working fine.

The problem with intermittent cruise control engagement can be quickly solved
5/5

Easy installation made it possible to fix intermittent cruise control in a 2009 Suburban in a short while. There were times when cruise control engaged, and there were times when it did not. If I sideways kick the brake pedal, there are times when the cruise control engages right away and other times when it doesn't. The cruise control is now reliably working after I replaced this switch. In the background there is It is a little tricky to figure out how to remove and reinstall the clip. If the switch needs to be replaced, it can be done without much difficulty.

It is not possible to operate the cruise control
5/5

I consider this to be one of the best. It is not possible to operate the cruise control. There are few things you can do to your car that are as easy as this. There is a 2009 Chevrolet Suburban in my driveway. The ACDelco D1539J product I bought is shown below. As I was getting information from various sources about my car's contracting number, I was confused. The Amazon verification was right on the money. The process of installing took me 10 minutes. You can remove the old device with an old screwdriver once the screw has been removed, and then push the clip that is attached to it up with your screwdriver.

A Yukon 2018 Denali was the subject of my work experience
5/5

My Yukon Denali 2018 was able to use this correctly. There is no cruise control error this time! I found it to be the most difficult part of the process. During the week before the show, I spent a lot of time planning out how I would accommodate I needed to work in that difficult space. To better see the old brake light switch, I took off the knee panel (under the dashboard) and the left portion of a vent under that dashboard. If the vent is disconnected, you can probably get away with that. You might find it easier to reach it if you sit on a bucket (like the kind you would find in a big box store) outside the driver's door and lean back under the dashboard. Make sure all your tools are within reach or have someone It would also be helpful if the light was bright.
*** Also, the shaft that this switch sits on has what appears to be a gear on it in the 2018 Yukon. In order to install the brake light switch, that gear must be pulled out, so it will end up between the two sides. You should make sure that both sides of the switch have the cable in them when you are done.
