Parts such as this appear to be a very good and durable substitute for the expensive OEM part. A good grip is achieved on the shifter link with no play in the sensor after attaching it. One of my favorite things about the sensor is that it has a very good range, meaning that it doesn't have to be perfectly aligned for the car to start. The sensors on some cars have limited range and only turn on if the shifter is pushed forward while in park, while with this one that is not There is a nice looking sleeve on the harness to protect it against the elements and engine heat, too bad it is a little shorter than the original, leaving about 5 inches of the harness exposed in comparison to the original which only had about 2 inches exposed. Although the old receptor did not have the clips needed to hold the connector in place, the connector fits tightly into the new receptor and remains in place nicely. Despite the locking nut and washer holding tight, the nut can still be turned freely. For the price, I would say it's an excellent price for a piece that looks like it will last just about as long As I noted on the old one, I note on this It is because your neutral safety switch malfunctions and is blocking your Jeep's ability to start if it powers on when you turn the key, but makes no noise when you hold it in the start position. On the Cherokee this is a very common issue. It is typically caused by the electrical contacts inside becoming gummed up and not slipping into their slots anymore. That prevents the starter from turning over, as if the clutch was engaged. Usually you can disassemble the car and clean out the gunk blocking the contacts, which will enable it to start, but then it will probably keep putting on the check engine light and even quit unexpectedly if a contact is clogged The fix should not be considered permanent. Another option would be to cut the wire next to the engine and jump the other wire to bypass the neutral safety switch, but that is not a good idea unless it is an emergency. Fortunately, mine has been installed and starts without a hitch every time, and it has resolved my check engine light issue. One concern I have is longevity, but time will tell if that will prove to be the case.
Originally, I was worried about how hard it would be to replace it, but it turned out to be not too difficult. On a 1998 Cherokee (XJ) I replaced the OEM NSS.
Aside from getting the old one off, the only hard part was taking it I was able to fix my obd code 705 with ease, and the installation was quite simple. It works as it should.
This 1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ Sport is a classic. It fits perfectly and performs well. Now you don't have to worry about anything.
I saved the day with this.
So far so good.
My 2000 Jeep Cherokee had a no start problem, and I had this taken care of. When I took out my old one, it was cut up into.
Once you are able to loosen the connector, this is a simple install. I was able to fix the problem this way.
