My old Scotts S2048 tractor mower was a perfect match for this. br>br>I was mowing my lawn when my tie rod broke free from the ball joint. I decided to buy a new tie rod online and install it myself after seeing that it was only held in place by two nuts. br>br>I placed my order for the tie rod on April 19th, and it was shipped the same day via 3 day priority mail. br>br>The tie rod, which came with nuts, was packaged in a long box and sealed in plastic. It was a dead ringer for my old tie rod. The only difference between the new tie rod and the factory original tie rod is that the new tie rod does not have the same yellowish coating. The silver of the metal used to make the new tie rod is all that is visible. I doubt it will have any impact, but only time will tell. br>br>I haven't used my mower since installing the new tie rod on April 27th, due to delivery delays after it was shipped. It's been a rainy week, but if I run into any performance issues, I'll update this review. br>br>I give the vendor and product five stars. Priority mail gets a one-star rating from me. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> December 5, 2021br>I've had this tie rod installed on my mower for two full mowing seasons now. I haven't had any problems, and I mow one acre. Every week, from spring to fall, I mow 5 acres of my yard. This purchase has made me extremely happy.
As other reviewers have stated, this is a direct replacement for the Scott's/John Deere S2048, among others. The new Tie Rod is just as solid as the old one. The only difference is that this item has a zinc finish rather than a yellow chromate finish like the original. br>Overall, a fantastic replacement item that arrived quickly.
br>br>So far, this replacement on my Scotts s2554 has worked for 50 hours with no signs of joint fatigue.
