Despite the fact that I bought it with the expectation that it would be the best, it isn't. It is a shame that Firestone fell just short of being able to offer a good system. The remote, as others have pointed out, is no longer reachable. If the device is to work properly, the user needs to be within a foot of it. My truck ran 24/7 without an ignition cable because I bypassed it so it kept running even when it wasn't running. The bags' psi does not stay in the set range after using this method. contacted tech support for help and they informed me that the ecu runs a check and resets the bags when the system is cycled off (the vehicle is turned off). For those of you who are anything like me, I won't stop or turn my truck off for five minutes at a time A driver who drives 8 hours on a long trip could find that their bags' pressure is With a 21,000lb load, I had the bags set at 80. After driving for 300 miles, the bags were at 15 and 25 when I stopped and checked. This ECU does not work with an automatic leveler kit, which you can get instead. Then you can choose between the two, not both at once. My preference is to back under my gooseneck with the bags dumped and then increase PSI so that I can We need to do the following With my addition, I am now using a momentary switch in my cab to reduce power to the unit as though the truck is being shut To set PSI, the ECU is cycled and the bags are refilled. We are not what you are looking for if you want to set it and forget As for what you should buy instead, I cannot recommend anything.
Is it true that I had high expectations? It is true. Can I say that I am I do not think so. My system is always having issues it doesn't work, it won't connect, it has poor signal and at least once a month there is an issue with lines coming loose or wiring issues. Now it is completely unusable and I have no idea how to fix it. I am replacing it with a Ride Rite system after having it for 2 years.
After that, the remote and/or ECU no longer worked. During my hour-long troubleshooting, I was unable to reach the Firestone tech. In the past several days, I had made several calls to Firestone - and not once had they returned my calls after I had I was told that I would receive a new ECU and remote from Firestone. Here's to hoping it works out! Having to go through the warranty process again is not fun!.
It works like a charm for what it's intended to do.
I would not recommend buying. There is nothing good about their customer service. Whenever you try to talk to anyone, you will be unable to. My phone has rang 20 times and my e-mail has been sent The e-mail was sent four times, five messages have been left and they have not returned any phone calls. This product should not be purchased.
