Questions & Answers

Is it necessary to purchase two of these kits to complete both the driver's and passenger's sides?

Yes, one per side; I made the mistake of purchasing only one and had to order a second, causing the installation to be delayed.

Are these intended to replace or complement upper control arm bolts? Is there a manual included with them?

Yes, the upper control arm bolts are replaced by the Moog K8740. There are instructions included in the package. Thank you

Will this kit straighten out my slanted tires after I put a level light on them?

Camber and caster alignment are made easier with this kit. It won't give you any more options than you already have.

Because my control arms and ball joints had to be replaced, I ordered this. Is it necessary to order two, or will this suffice?

Each side gets one kit. If you do both sides, you'll have two kits in total.

The quality is poor
3/5

The quality of Moog has recently deteriorated dramatically. I've used dozens of this part number with no problems, but the lock nut smash at the edge is too aggressive, and the bolt was stripped out before it was tightened down to the frame, and it was extremely difficult to tighten in general. It was necessary to reinstall the factory-installed non-adjustable bolts, which will make alignment more difficult.

It's a perfect match for a 2003 Ford F-150
5/5

150 King's Ranch is a ranch located in the city of King's Ranch, This was installed on a 2003 Ford F150 and it worked perfectly! The old cam bolts had rusted and corroded to the point where they were difficult to align. br>br>Plus, if you're replacing these, you're already halfway done with the Upper Control Arm replacement. So, if you have over 100K miles on your vehicle, you might as well replace the upper ball joint and control arm bushings while you're at it (my UCA bushings were all dried out and cracked). The control arms are only about $60 each, so they aren't that much more expensive than the ball joint. It's MUCH easier to install than pressing out the old bushings and ball joint and replacing them with new ones, and bushings would cost on their own.

It worked flawlessly! On a 2003 Ford F150 XL, I replaced the upper and lower control arms, which resulted in excessive positive camber
5/5

It was plain to see. Because the factory setup does not allow for it, there is no way to change it. This set of bolts worked perfectly. After they were installed, the truck was taken to an alignment shop where the adjustments were fine-tuned. Despite the instructions showing a hazy picture of how it went together, it was simple to put together. If you're still unsure, look it up on the internet and watch a video.

This is definitely doable if you have a jack and some wrenches. These are the kinds of things that alignment shops love to take advantage of. Here's how it went down: br>br> The bolts that hold in the upper a-frame on Ford trucks are slotted. arms. This is used to adjust caster and camber, and it's aligned at the factory with some sort of jig or something. The typical alignment shop does not have this luxury when it comes to alignments. The bolts for the upper a-frame can be found here. Rotating the oblong (cam) washer, which is attached to the arm, moves the bolt back and forth in the slot, allowing for changes in caster and camber. br>br>The description doesn't make it clear that one package covers one side. br>br>I got a quote from a local alignment shop for $200 in parts and $200 in labor (before they could even align it). I bought these for $40 and completed both sides with hand tools in under an hour.

Ford F150 5th Generation, 2002 0 XLT 4x4
5/5

So here's the deal: Ford shipped these trucks with shims in the upper control arm bolts to keep them aligned. No alignment shops carry them, so it's a real pain. My front bolts were seized in the bushings (rusted) when I replaced my upper control arms. In any case, I had to remove them. These are fantastic. I ordered them and they are a perfect fit. I took them to an alignment shop, and they had no trouble tweaking the alignment. I used anti-seize on the bushing inserts to avoid having to cut them out again.

For my 1997 Ford Expedition 4x4, the Moog K8740 Cam Bolt Kit was the perfect fit
5/5

For my 1997 Ford Expedition 4x4, I bought the Moog K8740 Cam Bolt kit. They fit perfectly and the alignment guy said they worked great, despite the fact that they were a pain to put together. When I replaced the upper control arm with an upper ball joint, I also replaced these. My upper ball joint was in bad shape, and alignment technicians had been complaining about it for a while. I recommend replacing this bolt along with the upper control arm, but first marking the existing alignment bolts and transferring the markings to the new bolts/washers. It worked perfectly for me, and my truck was well aligned enough for me to drive around for a few weeks before I had it aligned.

It does exactly what it says
4/5

I put these on my 1999 Ford F150 4x4 and it looks great. They fit perfectly and have the same appearance as the Moog K8740 kit I bought in 2007. The only difference is that these are not manufactured in the United States, whereas the older ones were. Again- They have the same appearance and appear to function in the same way.

MOOG continues to produce high-quality components
5/5

So it appears that the truck I purchased had not been aligned since it was shipped from the factory. Because the factory uses square plates, these are the only ways to adjust camber and caster. I bought these and installed them when I needed to replace the upper control arms because I expected the alignment shop to charge me an arm and a leg. I was astounded to discover that these were HALF THE PRICE OF THE NEAREST MAJOR CAR PARTS RETAILER.
