To remove the glass, insert a small screwdriver into the notch on the side, just above the small dial that's used to set the time. Twist and lift the glass to remove it. The battery can be found on the other side of the white plastic thing. The part number is #377 (SR626SW).
It has a lever on the side and would seem unlikely to be waterproof since it is set by pulling a lever. It is, however, an excellent, inexpensive clock.
I bought the item for my car because it failed so I just put the interior lights on to see it at night. It says it illuminates but it doesn't *br>I considered that the arms and digits might glow, but that also does not seem to happen. Moreover, it says it's a sealed unit, so I plan to use it until it fails, then I'll get another one, as they are cheap. As I was pulling off the piece to straighten it after Velcroing it, I noticed it was crooked so I went to straighten it, and the back fell off, revealing a CR2032 watch or remote control battery. Lithium 2 packs are available for $6 at Energizer. I bought one in blue and stuck it directly under the stereo on my old Cadillac panel and it looks great on the faux wood grain dash LOL, and my old clock was there anyway so it turned black so it's not like I have to look at a dead clock all the time. I wouldn't say it's a bad clock for the price. I can't see #1 at night since it doesn't glow or illuminate (like the box implies) so I have to use my interior lights, but it is still hard to see even with the lights on. It is fine during the day if your eyes are good because #2 it's a sealed unit so cannot be replaced, but it's inexpensive enough to just buy a new one when it dies #3 when you stick it to your dashboard you can't adjust the time because your fingers can't access the little wheel. So I could pull it off the dash to set it, I used a velcro strip I happened to have on hand. #4 I wish my clock had not broken in my car*I will likely try to find a replacement digital clock that I can see or fix it in my car, but it is part of the Bose stereo system and no one will touch it since it is part of the stereo. The car clock is so vital that I never realized how much I depend on it. The cops will fine you hefty amounts if they catch you in your state checking the time while driving with a cell phone in your hand. (I live in Massachusetts. A hole, btw), and the cops are the same.

I did not find instructions for installing the battery, setting the time, or anything else with the clock when I received it. Both the clock and the delivery are in good working order. Having it not be able to attach to a vent is the only reason I cannot give it a higher rating. In reading the ad again, I noted there was no reference to attachment to a vent, even though all the other ads said it did. My fault, it's just like I assumed. I ordered another similar one that attaches to a vent as there was no other problem than mine.
