Questions & Answers

What are the advantages of glow plugs? I don't mean to be stupid, but what are they?

I love it! I found that to be quite amusing. There's not a great deal of difference between this and spark plugs, to be honest. The glow plug is typically used in diesel engines, and spark plugs are typically used in gasoline The use of glow plugs does not really come with any advantages.

Are these compatible with 2006 Ford turbo diesel trucks?

You will not be able to use these with anything other than Several Ford trucks, manufactured between 1994 and 2003, were equipped with a Powerstroke diesel.

Please confirm they are all compatible. Two different models are shown on other sites, one for a 1990, and one for a 2000. The three models for 1998 and newer each look different. What is the difference?

It is not clear to me. Before you purchase, make sure you do your research. If you know which set is compatible with your rig, it's not all that hard. The plugs in this package are for a certain variant of the The three Fords fit within a few decades, but I am unlikely that they were all made at the same time. The Ford 7 2002 I installed them into did not start right away. I began cold starting again on day 3 and have never had an issue

I'd like to know what the story is. What does it mean when the packaging says "most parts made in the ?

A glow plug that has a large percentage of overseas contents may refer to packaging or individual parts. This phrase is usually used in reference to plastic bags that are not manufactured in the United States.

The LEDs you buy from some places are not Motorcraft
3/5

Motorcraft advertises these as low cost OEM glow plugs. However, they are not manufactured by Motorcraft. The motorcraft glow plugs are what I paid for I expected them to be that brand. The fact that they came in a white box and were advertised as Motorcraft did not raise any suspicions on my part. As I learned from reading more about the glow plugs, I realized they can only be purchased in Motorcraft packages like the one in the picture, not in After installing them without knowing better, I thought I was good to go, but not more than two months later, my truck will not even turn over below 65 degrees, and out of 4 glow plugs, only two are There is no issue with the glow plugs! I installed a Motorcraft relay of the same brand and came in the same bag, so it isn't that. Then I'll have to buy new glow plugs, which will cost me more money down the drain. I've also heard that cheapo glow plugs can expand in the cylinder head and break off, which will require removal of the cylinder head. I love it. Do not buy these! Go to a dealer to find out how much they cost whatever you do, do not buy them!.

An approximately $10,000 story is under investigation and may lead to a lawsuit
3/5

You should not buy these as they are not worth the cost. them in May 2018 and had them delivered to my home in June. I backed up to an empty parking lot as soon as I heard a loud noise in the morning on October 1, 2018. The valve covers were removed, and I began to touch everything to see if there was a break in the rocker or spring. A glow plug wire was loose, so I checked it. My attention was drawn to the wire, which was still attached to the plug, but it was only attached to the guts of the plug and the plug sleeve was still attached to As I took the sleeve out of the cylinder, I noticed the part that sticks into the cylinder was broken off and bouncing inside. This plug was recommended as an oem Ford plug (see photo). They even came in a Ford bag. Plugs in this series have no Ford part numbers on them. Don't try to save money by buying these plugs online. I would recommend spending an extra $40 or so It costs $50 bucks to get it directly from the dealer. Despite the low mileage, I've got to do a full rebuild on a 2000 Powerstroke that only had 165,000 miles. It has so far cost around $10,000 to rebuild the house. Make sure you don't do what I did and try to save a few dollars, since you might be facing the same problems. A seller who told me about this issue has not gotten back to me.

The knock-off of a real aircraft
3/5

After replacing the cups, injectors, and glow plugs on my car, I decided to do the same for the glow plugs. After I installed them in the spring, it worked fine all summer long (it never failed to start even in warm weather). As soon as the weather turned cold, however, and it needed the glow plugs to start, it failed. I removed the valve covers and found that all of them Lucky me, I had kept all the old glow plugs, and they were all still in good shape.

Please be aware! The set of 8 that I purchased in April 2018 is still in its original packaging
3/5

In December of the same year, they were installed. When I bought them, the reviews were very positive. If you look now, some commenters claim that they are not genuine OEM glow plugs. I believe my new Ford Diesel mechanic. There was a very official look to the packaging. Only 5000 miles have been put on my truck in the past year and I started to have issues last year that got worse as time went on. Last night we removed these and tested them. Five of the eight were broken before removal, and one of them was a total loss. What is going on here is wrong! It has been reported that one of the tips broke during testing and caused engine damage. The fact that this did not happen to me makes me feel very lucky. The only thing I'm out of pocket is the price of a new set of glow plugs.

Buying cheap Chinese is not the same as buying As advertised, they were OEM motorcraft part, but I received aftermarket glowplugs made in China
3/5

If I could, I would give zero stars, it was the old bait and switch tactic.

The OEM parts shown here are genuine parts
4/5

My 1997 International 7 was fitted with these genuine OEM parts that came in Motorcraft packaging for a reasonable price. My installer billed me $300 for the job. It started right up on the first try in chilly weather since it is a turbo diesel engine. The block heater would have to be used for an hour, even in August, when it is 80 degrees out. Having the option to start your vehicle whenever you want is such a convenience! In the event they don't last, I can see revising this down. In the event they last longer than expected, I might revise this I am satisfied with my life as it stands now.

Optimum glow plug performance is achieved with OEM units
5/5

It is always a good idea to replace glow plugs with OEM parts, and these are the plugs to use! Autolite and others are what I've used and that's it for 2 or 3 winters. After that, I have to repeat the process. The last set of plugs I bought from Motorcraft lasted for There are no cheap knockoffs made in China, these are made by Ford in Ireland. You are better off using OEM parts when labor and gaskets are taken into account. Basically, this is what it means As with anything else, you get what you pay for, and that's why Chinese parts are so Using quality parts and saving on additional labor costs in the future is your choice. You can save on parts and spend on labor or use budget parts and save on labor.

This is what they do
5/5

This is a genuine OEM replacement for the glow plugs in a 1999 F-150 The numbers 250 and 7 are suitable. Glow plugs that are aftermarket may swell with age and use and may even fall off when removed. Be sure to use only OEM glow plugs here. I have used them on my truck for almost 20 years, so we know they'll last. The ones in my truck which were factory installed have lasted for nearly that long.
