The answer is yes
Battery voltage on a car is 12 volts. If 5V was used, a much larger current would be required to produce the same amount of power. It's likely they're powered by battery power through a relay and are 12V.
The 2002 Mk4 1 looks to be a perfect fit for my car. TDI (Diesel) engine with 9 L of I4. Steel seemed to be used for the plugs. A flash was not performed on the ECU. The swap is straight forward. Using dowsing the dash light after clearing the ECL log, it seems to work great so far.
I am not sure. There should be an online resource that can provide that information.

Basically, P0380 is the code that my 2001 Jetta TDI had. To make sure that all glow plugs had high resistance, I assessed their resistance with an Ohm Meter. Three of them met the threshold. On one of the models, the ohm was 6 ohms while on of the models was a little higher. It's a Bosch glow plug. I replaced the glow plug displaying 10 ohms with this new Bosch glow plug, and the code is gone.
Thanks so much for your great products! To confirm it was a plug issue and not a wiring issue, which has been known to happen sometimes, I tested all 4 plugs for resistance. The plug in cylinder #2 was dead, according to my testing. The engine in question was a Beru brand that I put in maybe five years ago or approximately 20000 miles ago. Since I don't know glow plugs well, I went with Bosch and the Amazon prime program got them to me quickly. I changed 4 plugs (cleared the code and no problems since) and I'll be getting more so I have spares on hand, just in case. . . I am over an hour away from the nearest VW dealer and there is no stock in this area!.
The glow plugs in my 2004 VW Jetta TDI have been replaced twice as a preventative maintenance measure since I bought the car in 2006. This is a great product. Over $28 is saved compared to my local auto parts store when I purchase the plug on Amazon over $7 less per plug. During cold weather, this is an easy part to replace, but it makes a dramatic difference when starting the vehicle. During the winter, I found that you can extend the life of these by installing a coolant heater and running it continuously. This will prevent the battery from being prematurely discharged during the summer. From FrostHeater, you can purchase a coolant heater. The company. Installing the heater is relatively simple and it is better than a block heater.
On a 2001 ALH TDI, I installed these. It doesn't take long for me to replace a cheaper brand after I end up using it for less than a The only way to go for quality and reliability is Bosch.
The fit for the 03 alh tdi was perfect. Before you start cleaning up, make sure you clean around all the plugs. Keep your head up and don't go down. Make sure antisense is off and torque is on. Aluminum is a material that is corrosion-resistant.
In order to replace all four of my glow plugs at once after one tripped the check engine light on my '02 TDI, I decided to buy four of these. To change the glow plugs, you have to move the harness a little bit, you will need a 10mm deep socket, wrench, and possibly some extensions and joints to reach the two in the middle that are a little hard It's easy to put them in and take them out. I had quite a lot of carbon build-up on mine when they came out of my car, so be careful when you're removing them so you don't get the crud inside. My engine started better after I switched the glow plugs out and popped the harness back on. After clearing the error codes and re-connecting the grounding wire, the CEL never came back on. I really like these.
These just went in my 2001 Jetta TDI, and they are doing a fantastic job! I had a check engine light on and the shop told me they would charge me $130 for the plugs, $135 for a new harness (which they claim always needs to be replaced because the contacts oxidize and will cause the code to remain), and $200 for labour. In the end, I bought four plugs here for a little over $50, installed them myself in 15 minutes, and cleaned the harness contacts with a contact cleaner (Deoxit 5 or a similar product). You can now reattach it! Let it dry a couple hours and then you can reattach it! Please note that the CEL code still needs to be cleared because it is persistent. Using a Bluetooth OBD2 device, which you can buy here for about $25, I was able to clear the codes using my smartphone and the Torque app. If you'd like to pay your mechanic $20, you can do that as well.
Just opened them today to use them and 3 of them actually looked completely different from the glow plugs that had been ordered even though the packaging carried the same OEM parts number. As today is the day after I could have returned them, I have to regret this decision. False advertising is a big deal to me. Amazon made a mistake. Learn from that! As soon as you open the package, take it out.
