Man, I'm a sucker for this kind of thing. br>br>After purchasing a former military HMMWV, I began replacing the cracked/rotted Packard connectors and fabricating harnesses for additional items such as backup lights, light bar, and so on. br>br>One of the FMV owners' adages is "if it's electric, clean it, if it's rubber, change it," to which I add "use some Deoxit on the contacts and Dow Corning DC4 dielectric grease on the br>br>I've been told that, unlike lighter silicone oils/sprays, this won't soften or degrade the rubber connectors, making it easier to remove and keeping water out. For years, it keeps the rubber looking shinier and new. I've used it on door seals, rubber grommets, and wheel o-rings, to name a few. a variety of rings It can be used to prevent galling on stainless steel screws and bolts. It's fantastic stuff, and it's also excellent for smearing on battery terminals to prevent oxidation. br>br>I went through an entire tube in about six months, half of the next in about a year, and then bought another tube "for later.
