I thought the claims in the reviews I read were a little exaggerated (better gas mileage, more power, and less vibration), but they all came true. This unit was purchased to replace a Crane Hi4 that had broken down. With a 98 EVO (mild cam, Mikuni, Vance and Hines), I've built a Special Construction. In my cruising range (65-80 mph), my bike would take an eternity to start and had a nasty vibration. 85 mph). It starts so quickly now that I don t even hear the starter engage and vibration was cut at least 80% in my cruising range at least 80% in my cruising range at least The bike is finally up and running, just as I had hoped. Installing and setting static timing is simple. My bikes' bad behavior was truly "cured" by this unit. I would strongly suggest it.
My 1994 FLSTN Evo was a perfect match for this. The bike ran better right away after the installation. It could have benefited from more detailed installation instructions. In my case, for example, the ignition module is completely removed. I didn't need the $400 version with more flexibility, so this is a good deal. I'm only on stage 2 right now.
The Ultima gave me the relatively simple ignition features I wanted at the best price, and it arrived quickly. The new module is now available. In about 15 minutes, the coils had been installed and were ready to go. As specified, I used static timing. It was simple, and it only took ten minutes more. The ignition system is set to single-cylinder operation. With the VOES disconnected, fire mode with the first timing curve. br>br>From the start, the bike started easily and ran smoothly; the engine had been strong with the old stock module. So far, after about 100 miles with the Ultima module and coil, it's starting and running just as well, if not better, than before. The Ultima's static timing appears to be quite effective. In fact, my bike is performing so well that I haven't bothered to check the timing dynamically or experiment with any other timing curves.
On a 1986 Evo 883 Sportster (the very first Evo), this ignition was installed. It's now a hardyail bobber. The bike has never been able to maintain a consistent level of performance. Always going off the rails and backfiring. It was due to a faulty carburetor until the spark completely died. I looked for OEM parts as well as several aftermarket options. For the price, I went with this one, and it was simple to set up. It didn't turn on at first. (It was my fault; I had the spark plug wires in the wrong order. ) After that, it started up smoothly. I adjusted the idle and went for a ride, and what a difference it made. Curve 1 is the only one I tried, and it gives you a lot more power and throttle response.
Everything worked perfectly as expected after a great ignition. It took longer to take out the old ignition than it did to put this one in. It took longer to clean up than it did to set this up, in my opinion.
No more points whooo hooobr>3- It worked great and was very easy to install. The 21st update continues to work flawlessly.
Awesome! This setup is far superior to the single-fire dynatek setup. I actually thought I was missing something because the installation was so simple. Switches 1 and 2 are where I put them in my setup. In the off position, 5 is a good number to have. For single-fire mode, turn the switch to position 6. It runs very well, with no issues with cold starts or kickstarts.
