BUY THIS PRODUCT DIRECTLY FROM THE MANUFACTURER'S WEBSITE, NOT FROM AMAZON. THERE IS NO WARRANTY, I REPEAT, THERE IS NO WARRANTY IF YOU BUY THROUGH AMAZON! WOULD NOT WORK, AND WHEN I CALLED MSD, I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO WARRANTY IF I BOUGHT IT ON AMAZON! AMAZON IS A DISTRIBUTOR FROM A THIRD PARTY. I ORDERED IN NOVEMBER OF 2019 AND CONTACTED MSD IN FEBRUARY OF 2020.
I put this on an older 95 LT1 v8, and it really helped boost the spark, and the car runs great now. br>Please keep in mind that this is not a stock engine; it has a large cam, ported heads, and headers. br>Here's something else to think about. I have the MSD coil as well, but I continue to use the stock opti spark distributor. br>One thing that makes a big difference is using the correct oil seal on the distributer. After installing the proper oil seal that looks like a standard oil seal, all of the problems with the opti spark vanished after cleaning the oil out of the inside. No need to waste money on a 595. Distributor for MSD at 00. They've gotten nothing but bad press. The cost of this opti spark distributer was only 45 dollars.
My 1988 Jeep YJ Wrangler 4 now has a Duraspark ignition upgrade. 2L. Many YJ owners opt for an HEI distributor, but I prefer to keep my original Duraspark distributor and use the Digital 6AL MSD Ignition because it is of higher quality and has more features. Multiple spark, built-in adjustable rev limiter, powerful spark at higher RPMs, lower voltage required for cranking, and extras such as the ability to add the Adjustable Timing module later if you find the need to retard/advance on the fly are just a few of them. If you're serious about your Jeep and want a high-quality ignition, the MSD 6425 is the box for you.
My 1973 Mach 1 Mustang came equipped with a MSD ignition system that worked flawlessly. However, it came with a 6425 6 ignition control module, and I needed to be able to limit the engine RPM. The 6AL unit plugged into the same connector that had previously fed the standard "6" module without a rev limiter. I "tried" the 6AL and discovered that it did a fantastic job of keeping the engine RPMs within the parameters I set for the modules.
This is a fantastic product; even on my race cars, I've never had one fail. It is clear that things have improved. In all weather conditions, easier starts, a smoother idle, and a slightly snappier throttle response are all improvements. The kit includes a variety of small parts that make assembly simple.
Together with the blaster coil, the engine performance is truly "waked up. ".
In a 1975 Celica, it's powered by a forged 22R/20R hybrid engine with high compression. It works perfectly, the car starts right up, and there hasn't been any flooding, which is fantastic.
The system is now up and running. I had to replace my older 6al box, which MSD said was fried beyond repair when I sent it in to be refurbished. The same wire combination is used. It appears that this box is running much more smoothly than my previous one. I haven't had the opportunity to drive yet. It still needs a few finishing touches before it can be put back on the road. MSD claims that fuses aren't necessary. But, because this is my third box in 15 years (due to being fried), I added an inline fuse for extra protection.
