Lots of extra items are included in this kit Be sure to use the right rings and gaskets for your motor and not the same ones from another model. A tip I learned is to install the lower half of the pump housing before installing the impeller, then while you slide the top of the pump housing over the impeller you should apply downward pressure while spinning the driveshaft clockwise, this will ensure that the impeller is oriented properly. Make sure that the female portion of the pump and the male portion of the pipe (in the engine) are the same size, and measure it to ensure that you are using the correct universal kit pieces. After ripping the new water pipe o'ring out of the top of the pump housing, I had to reuse the old one because my measurements didn't coincide. I guess it isn't a big deal, but it would have been nice to know that the old pipe cap should be removed and replaced with a new one. On the Internet, you can view your motor pump diagram. You will save yourself a lot of headaches. A mistake had been made in how the pump was installed by the previous owner. Don't be afraid to do things the right way the first time. Keep an eye on the situation.
My 1988 Mercury XR4 Black Max 150 had a leaking water pump, so I purchased this kit to replace it. All components of the kit were included. A tip for installing the impeller in the water pump housing is as follows The rubber impeller needs to be bent in the correct direction using zip ties. Install the impeller into the housing by sliding it in until it is almost fully seated in Wire cutters are the best tool at this point for removing the zip tie. As soon as the zip tie is cut, push the impeller into the housing so that it gets into the housing otherwise, it will pop out of the housing and you will have to start from scratch.
I can honestly say that it is the worst product every made. Its materials are absolutely horrible. In order to make sure the housing didn't crack, I applied some torque to it before any torque was applied. It is not necessary to buy the same brand twice unless you want to do the job twice.
The inline six cylinder was installed on my 1971 Mercury 1350. My water outlet line had an abundant amount of water going out of it now, no overheating, works great. I had all the parts to replace the impeller, stainless steel base plate, pump housing, and even the lower pump housing (although I would have replaced it as well otherwise).
I like this sucker because it works well Ensure you use all of the gaskets. Follow the installation instructions provided in a mercury manual. An important part of a building is its gaskets.
Perfect. Water pump housings were provided on both the top and bottom, which was excellent. I am very pleased with the results.
Yet there is no water pump in this room. The only thing we need is Buying would have been impossible if it had said "no water pump", which is the only thing I was missing.
It worked just fine, and was very well made. All gaskets, the pump housing, and all parts you need to do a full replacement are included. My next purchase will be in 2 years when I need to change my phones.
