During an oil change on an Audi Q7, I took off the washer on the drain plug to save a little money, but I didn't do any research on it. This strange washer just seemed to be a part of the machine. I have not seen a washer on any other vehicle I have changed the oil in, Chevys, Nissans, Fords. That might not be the case, but I've never experienced leaks in my home. Unsurprisingly, the next morning there was quite a puddle in the parking lot. Researching my need for a "crush washer" led me to the conclusion. There were only a few copper non-ferrous parts in a local national auto parts store I think the hollow ones are safer. The leak persisted even after I tried a few times. These fit nicely, I could finally feel the leak disappear once I tightened them up, and now there are no more leaks.

The hollow crush washer is the type of washer I use on my Suzuki DR650SE motorcycle. The seal will form when they are tightened to the recommended torque. However, I do not want to change over to an OEM-style washer even though I have plenty of M14 flat crush washers lying around. OEM washers are $4, but we need to buy them from Amazon. The price per item is $50 It costs about $1 per washer to deliver these Suzuki crush washers, which are identical to the OEM version.

Fitting the oil plug without a problem, the previous washer did a nice job. The bolt was a little looser around this one, and the sides bent out a bit. That was not the case with the previous one. The quality of a product is determined by its price.
