I can't tell you what it is exactly, but I can tell you that I used a 1" hole saw and it fit perfectly, so after drilling and setting it in place I had enough room to use the screws.
It is better to go with a 6 or an 8.
The diameter of an inch is 1 7/8
One inch will be quite a squeeze, but that's not an issue if it's just a small space.

You made a great job! The component is molded as a single unit. There is some flexibility in the rim, but it is stiff. More flexibility is provided by the flaps. An existing cable needed to be enclosed with a split grommet. Using heavy gauge cutters, I was able to snip off the ends of this piece. I had to snip the rim in order to accommodate 1/8" off-round because my application was not perfectly.
There is a good amount of grommet here. The purpose of this product is to snake the wiring of my As far as quality is concerned, it's adequate for its intended purpose. I find that when I tighten a screw down on the four bolt holes, they tend to flex or open up larger. It's also important not to over tighten the screws, which will result in expansion and flexing. The installation on my boat has been cleaned up. In place of an open hole, there will be a grommet that wires can pass through. The width of the blade is 2 3/4" to the edge To open the hole, I used a 1 3/4" hole saw I found it to be functional, but I doubt it would be able to handle Due to the incorrect measurement of the hole size, I am taking away one star.
The product I purchased is perfect for me. During a modification to my race car ignition, I accidentally left behind a 1" hole in my firewall. (I had previously installed an MSD coil pass-through. Click here to go there). There was exactly the same spacing between the screw holes and the hole, so it covered the hole perfectly! This is very well designed, and it makes it easy to pass wires through it.
They're solid yet flexible, and fit well.

I liked how it worked, but it was very costly.
