The most effective oil catch can on the market has been created by Mishimoto after years of research and development. It filters oil particles from the PCV/CCV air that would normally be routed back to the intake of the engine. If you were to use the Mishimoto XL Baffled Oil Catch Can, oil particles would be separated. This internal air diverter increases turbulence in the flow and makes sure that the enclosed oil sinks to the bottom, allowing nothing but clean air to pass through the 50-gallon drum. The intake is filtered by a micron bronze filter. Under race conditions, the oil is kept from sprinkling around by a baffle inside. The price of something like this would suggest that it should have come with hoses and clamps. Oh well, must of missed that. This is quite overpriced.
The size is much bigger than I had anticipated, but the quality is not bad. I found it to be a little expensive, but the R&D is evident in the product. Over some 20 dollar general item, I trust this product to handle the pressure and heat it goes through.
When you install it, it's pretty easy to use. The effectiveness of this on a FJ Cruiser was unknown to me. The truth is, it In my first 1000 miles with the car, I pulled a bunch of slop from fresh oil that would have just been used. I'm happy to run only clean oil in my engine, or as clean of a motor oil as I can get. A mounting bracket had to be made in addition to the installation, which took about two hours.
