The following is also true for China In answers and reviews, it was written that it was made in America, but that's not entirely true. That's why this filter base was chosen over others. A mounting bracket for the filter is made in America, the filter's base is stamped with "China" on There is still a high degree of quality in the casting. Despite what it looks like in the only photograph, the mounting bracket is much larger. This is because the photo is taken at an angle. If you're deciding where to mount it, keep this in mind that it's about 10" wide where the mounting holes are. If I don't cut it down, it won't fit in my engine bay. Steel mounting bracket made of 1/4" thick is very sturdy and made of heavy gauge steel. It was given a star less for being misled that it was made in the USA and for the curiously wide mounting bracket it came with. Generally speaking, I think this is a high quality device. Whether or not I return it is up to me.
