The thought is appealing, and it is a fairly straightforward process for many to implement. I got it installed in a short amount of time. On the other hand, due to the angle of the heat shield, on the bottom of the filter was a little more than 1/2" clearance, and on the top was about A five-point plan. As a result, getting the supporting ring in place and tightening it was a painful experience. When I drove it for a short period of time after installation, the filter fell off because there isn't enough room around to make sure the filter is seated properly. I found the installation to be easy. It will be difficult to remove the filter element for cleaning because it is so large.
