I bought a muffler from this company and it lasted 4 years, which I consider worth it considering the price and ease of installation. You will also need gaskets and bolt sets for the flanges on both ends, as you won't be able to save the old.
In the last four years, I've had three Walkers. I live in the snowy North East, and I know there's a lot of salt on the roads, but Walkers corrode quickly and should last longer than two tears. My commute to work is 24 miles long on a two-lane highway that takes me up and over a mountain, so operating temperatures aren't an issue. At the same time, I was working on the muffler. It was either this or spending the extra money on stainless steel, which I probably should have done.
Allow me to save you the trouble of removing the old pipe and replacing it with this one only to discover that it is too short and will not fit properly. That's how it went for me. The pipe bends in the correct way, indicating that it was designed for a Subaru Impreza RS (or any other model equivalent). The main problem is that the pipe is an inch too short, so they cut a bunch of pieces of pipe and then weld them together at different angles to make it fit. They've obviously shortened them, and I'm not even going to mention the weld quality. I'm curious if Walker's plant has any kind of quality control. Although the description claims 'precision fitment,' I was able to get the flange of this pipe as close to the catalytic converter flange as possible using hardware, but it wasn't enough to compress the gasket (another Walker product) to create a tight seal. Because the exhaust is leaking, it can't be used. I also tried using the Walker hardware, which is available separately; you can read my review of that useless item here. This pipe is being returned, and I've placed an order for a Bosal replacement. I'm hoping for a different outcome.
My Subaru Forester 03X was able to use it. All good. It appears to be of a reasonable standard.
Again, everything is nice and quiet. It comes close to being a suspension pivot, but that's the only criticism I have. It really works. Without any tinkering or fuss, I was able to get it installed.
My 2004 Subaru Forester xs was a perfect fit. There are no extensions or cuts required.
Time will tell how long it lasts 12/03/2018.
To be honest, I bought it with the matching muffler/pipe, which isn't bent tight enough for a proper fit, and clearances were almost non-existent in some cases. I ended up replacing both because the original equipment could not be repaired.
