Questions & Answers
I have a stock muffler with a DC header, and there was no discernible difference between the OE and this replacement part.
Typically, these are different names for the same thing. The pipe and flange on the 54698 would be as shown.
To find the part number for your vehicle, go to Walker's website.
This part is a direct replacement, but it does necessitate higher-than-average skill levels.

On a 2005 Toyota Corolla, I installed this as well as the walker cat. The fit of both parts was perfect, and I had no trouble installing them myself. br>br>I can tell a difference in the sound, but it's subtle and not like an obnoxious street racer sound. I think it's a good deal for the price of both the pipe and the cat.
Note that you will need to saw off about 2 inches of the old exhaust pipe in front of the old defective pipe resonator. If you're unsure which parts you'll need, consult the Walker Exhaust online E-Store. For the correct part numbers, consult the catalog. A cracked exhaust center pipe at the muffler connection flange was the source of my issue.
Because the vehicle has 235k miles on it, this is the second time I've had to replace this part. It wasn't an exact match for the original. Bolts with springs connect the own part to the rear muffler assembly. The connection was not sealed when it was made this way. In my haste to repair it, I simply bolted it on, resulting in a 2 inch reduction in length. Now that I've gained 2 inches, I'm having alignment issues in the front.
This repair involved cutting the exhaust just behind the second catalytic converter in order to avoid the cost of a full exhaust replacement. It took less than an hour to complete the job, and the Walker replacement connected to the old muffler flange without a hitch. I was able to save a significant amount of money as a result of my efforts.
The quality is terrible. Something broke loose in the resonator chamber after only 20,000 miles, and it now rattles loudly whenever I start the car or drive down the road. I'll have to replace it once more. The original exhaust line had a life expectancy of more than 200,000 miles. Take a look around.
To repair a break in the pipe before the rear flange on my 2005 Vibe, this part worked perfectly.
Apart from the fact that it makes my car sound louder than it did before, it works perfectly and saved me a lot of money over having it done at a shop.
In about an hour, I was able to fix a rusted pipe with this.
