You should be able to install the grommet which I purchased from Amazon a while back since mine had an elbow on it if that is the difference you are referring to because when I installed this grommet on my engine I did not see any changes in the way it ran.

Not the same part that is in the vehicle

The part differs from what is specified by the manufacturer. There is a long 90 degree elbow with a grommet molded onto one end of it that is in the car. The BMW part number for this item is The attached picture shows how the picture was made.
