For ease of installation, place a bit of silicone lubricant around the groove and hole for the PCV.

Usually, 20 years is all it takes for this grommet to fail. It is possible to clean the PCV by soaking it in mineral spirits or MEK for a few minutes. I fixed it in a flash.

As in mine, mine was original and so poorly dried that I had to carefully remove it. As it broke apart, it was crumbling.

You do not need this grommet if you are replacing the PCV valve. Buying a PCV valve is all you need.
