This grommet is for the glove box door, not the door to the glove compartment. It serves as a "latch" to keep the door's plunger in place.
For our 2007 Ranger 500, I ordered this grommet. It was the perfect fit. I believe the same would apply to your device.
It won't fit in the glove box because it's too big.

I tried a few different Polaris Grommets before deciding on this one, which fits my 2000 Polaris Trailboss 325 like OEM. It says it's for the glove box, but it'll also fit in the seat. The newer ones have an indentation, while the older ones do not. I hope this helps someone who, like me, prefers their gear to be OEM.
You won't believe how aggravating it is to have the glove box open at every bump unless it happens to you. For an older Ranger, this is a must-have item!.
This small rubber part is required to keep the Polaris glove box closed, so I ordered two and kept one as a backup.
Exactly what I needed.
On my 900xp glove box, it works perfectly.
There were no problems while using it.
