Questions & Answers
Woodruff keys are the type you're looking for. They aren't threaded in any way. I'm not sure what you're looking for, but woodruff keys are designed to fit into a special woodruff key slot cut in a shaft and a keyway in a gear, pulley, or sprocket to prevent them from spinning on the shaft.
I don't see why not, though I suppose it depends on the application.

I had hoped that by spending more money, I would be able to get a better product; after all, Precision is a well-known brand. I took out the 24th edition of the machinery handbook to compare the measurements to the specifications. "ANSI Standard Woodruff Keys (ANSI B17. 1)" is listed in the table. R1990, R1967, R1967, R1967, R1967, R The width of the 1/8"x1/2" key is over spec. The maximum width allowed is zero. 125"- 6 samples yielded a total of 126". 1265"- 1277 So, either I sand down the zinc plate to fit the keyway, or? I suppose it's fine for a low-cost import, but I paid three times the "cheap" assortment price (which is still cheap when compared to McMaster-Carr). Maybe I'm expecting too much from Carr's variety offering? Several other sizes were in the acceptable range. br>br>On several keys, the zinc plating is also defective or partial. Perhaps a few percent, but not a majority. The box does not specify the country of origin. The information is usually proudly displayed on parts made in the United States. Given the quality, I'm guessing Precision just buys them from China like everyone else, slaps a sticker on them, and marks them up three times. I'm coming back.
The size of the cutter that made the seat must be matched by the Woodruff keys. Shops that work in inches use discrete size cutters that comply with the ANSI standard, whereas shops that work in metric use keys that comply with a different standard and are not interchangeable. br>br>I found this to be the cheapest ANSI-compliant set I could find. Metric sets are available at a lower cost. The ones I found that claim to be inch simply list the dimensions in inches of the metric keys they contain. Useless. br>br>I gave these 5 stars because they can be used for the purpose stated. They may be slightly larger than necessary due to the zinc coating, which serves only to protect them during storage. It's perfectly safe to scrape it off for fit.
as usual! It's a key assortment made in the United States, so you know exactly what you're getting. parts of high quality! br>Please be aware that keys made in China may not meet SAE and/or MILL-STANDARD requirements. Standards such as SPEC and ASTM are used. After that, you're on your own! br>Purchase products made in the United States!.
It was exactly what I needed for my store.
a good assortment to keep on hand for those sporadic needs.
This is exactly what the doctor ordered, in terms of selection and quality, and it will complement other similar items already in the house.
It's pleasant to be around.
This was a little pricey, but you could get 50 of the same size for about $15. I'm sure I'll need more as time goes on, so I think it was a good investment.
