Questions & Answers

Will these fit a Tecumseh H70 engine?

I'm not familiar with that engine, but it appears to have a very small bore. This tool performed admirably on a BMW motorcycle with a bore of 94mm. Years ago, when I was in charge of McCulloch, I replaced piston rings by hand in cart engines.

Will they be able to install the rings on a Chevy 350?

Definitely for my sbc/350 rebuild, which is why I bought it in the first place. I must say, it made installing the piston rings a breeze; this tool is well worth its weight in gold. Wishing you the best of luck with your new ring!

This is a fantastic ring tool for the money
5/5

I'm finding myself purchasing Lisle tools at an increasing rate. They make excellent cylinder hones, excellent creepers, and now this. This piston ring tool is a useful and cost-effective tool for the job. It's not the most durable thing in the world, but with some basic care, I'm sure it'll last a lifetime. On a Cummins 6bt, I used this to remove and replace rings. It was an excellent solution.

Pistons in automobiles are in a bad way
3/5

This is a good tool for small engine repair, such as lawn mowers, but it's terrible for automotive piston rings. The ends only just grab the ring, and the way they force it open can easily damage it. The ring's outer circumference is completely unsupported. The jaws are also made of thin, flat metal that flexes easily, causing rings to twist, and the inside corners of the ring gaps aren't protected, causing scratches on the piston. While using this tool, I broke two rings on my TDI, and now I'm concerned that the rest of the tool may be damaged as well. br>br>In the end, I threw this tool away and spent a little more money on something better.

Later on, you will be grateful. You know how once in a while you come across a tool and think to yourself, "why didn't I buy this 20 years ago?" " This is that product; I can't believe I've been installing piston rings without it for so long; the amount of time saved is incredible. " This is worth it even if you only swap rings on one piston in your life!.

For the money, this is an excellent tool
4/5

I completed the installation of new piston rings on my 5. 3 LM7 (GM "LS") is a breeze to use. The only thing I wish were different are the little ring grippers(? ) were slightly larger in the end. I had the rings slip out of those slots a few times before I could get them on the piston. Overall, a fantastic value for money tool.

Both large and small piston rings worked well
5/5

These were purchased to aid in the construction of my 383 small block. I have no complaints about how well they performed for that purpose. I've since used them to put together two smaller engines (ring sizes of 60mm and 60mm). They worked well with both the larger and smaller SBC rings. br>br>A tip for those having trouble is to make sure the ring is fully seated in the tool; if it isn't, you'll have problems.

I'm glad I bought this tool because it's a great tool at a reasonable price
5/5

It was incredibly simple and stress-free to remove the piston rings. Rings are not scratched or bent by accident. This is an absolute must-have, especially considering the price.

5 stars for the price,br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>easy to remove and Piston rings with a diameter of 165" and a thickness of 5/16". br>br>The tool itself is thin and light, but if it were too beefy, I'd be concerned about it easily overpowering/cracking the rings. br>br>It could be more durable, but the thin design reminds you to treat your rings gently.

Overall, they performed admirably
3/5

This is a good tool. During the initial spring installation, the end retainers broke. I was unable to return this tool because it had been purchased a few months prior to use. I ended up purchasing the same tool from a nearby auto store. They functioned satisfactorily, but the overall construction is subpar. I'd rather use a higher-quality tool if one is available.
