Questions & Answers

Is this going to fit a 2000 GMC 4?

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. The BS40640 Rear Main Seal Set, according to Fel Pro, is compatible with a 2000 GMC 4. Engine displacement is 8 liters.

Is there an alignment tool included with this?

When I bought it, I don't recall it being packaged with an alignment tool.

Is this a two-piece set (gasket and o-ring type seal) or a one-piece set? Is it compatible with my Chevy Avalanche 5 from 2002? 4x4 with a 3 liter engine?

It comes in two parts, and you'll need both. I thought my rear o ring seal was leaking, but it turned out to be the gasket, so I replaced both. Avalanche 4, Avalanche 5, Avalanche 6, Avalanche

Will this fit a Chevrolet Silverado 2500 from the year 2004?

Yes, if you have a six. 0 liters of power

A good seal, special installation care, and READ INSTRUCTIONS!   While performing a transmission overhaul, I replaced this seal
5/5

The truck is back on the road, and the seal is in excellent condition. For those who haven't used these before, the setup can be a little confusing. The seal's lip is different from that of a traditional rubber seal, and it is narrower than the original seal. Make sure the small thin lip (dust seal) is facing the transmission rather than the engine. Also, because the entire seal is made of rubber or what appears to be graphite rather than steel, you must be careful not to deform it while pressing it in; however, because it is made entirely of rubber, it presses in easier than traditional steel seals. Just make sure it's completely flat in its bore. To avoid distorting the housing/seal, use the installation tool while pressing it into the housing and installing it into the engine. Another important point to note, which is difficult to comprehend because it contradicts standard seal installation practices, is that: You do not have this ability. Do not use oil on this seal or its mating surface, I repeat, do not use oil on this seal or its mating surface. As I previously stated, this seal is made of a harder rubbery material, possibly impregnated with graphite. If you use oil, I've heard that they will leak. I've installed a lot of these (I believe the material is PTFE), mostly on Cummins diesels, and they've never leaked or used any oil. They come with a grease for vacuum testing, which I wipe off, making sure there is no lint on it. Do your homework. PTFE.

Fel- Rear Main Seal Set by Pro BS 40640 It was installed on a 1999 Silverado 5
5/5

Gen 3 (3 L) LS. The fit and function of the garment were perfect. Unless you enjoy yanking trannys, now is not the time to cut corners or scrimp on the job. I strongly advise using an alignment tool for the cover, or the crank seal will most likely leak prematurely. time or immediately due to a misalignment! Also, keep in mind that the seal must be installed with the "this side out" facing out, with the small text on the edge of the seal pointing toward the trans.

Obtain the Set- Both are required

I'm in charge of a GM pick-up truck fleet. We see rear seal leaks on a regular basis in pickup trucks and Suburbans. I decided to buy this set on Amazon because I had a pick-up option. It was discovered that there was a serious leak that needed to be repaired. Today was the day I finished it. Just hoping they last longer than the originals, which only traveled 431,829 miles. They certainly aren't made as well as they once were. I'm overjoyed, to say the least.

We don't know who makes the parts because we have a mixed inventory
4/5

So I bought it to fix the main seal on the back. Originally, I was given a kit that included a copper/aluminum gasket with black silicone, as shown in the photos. The seal on that kit had to be replaced, so I had to return it. I received a second fel-branded bs40640 kit. pro. This one, on the other hand, was a blue silicone-coated steel gasket. br>br>Frustrated by the fact that I had no way of knowing if these parts were genuine, I went to the dealer to purchase them. They wanted $80 for just the gasket, which was identical to the copper/aluminum with black silicone. After that, I went to Autozone to look at the same kit, and they only had the blue silicone one. br>br>Both kits had a round seal that looked identical. br>br>It appears that two companies manufacture these felpro gaskets, so they're both "authentic. " Because the original one that came out of the vehicle was also aluminum, I would have preferred the aluminum/copper colored one. The fit on the steel one was a little tighter. I chose the blue one and there are no leaks at this time. I'll give an update on longetivity since I've only had it for about two weeks.

The main is complete
5/5

Does exactly what it says on the tin. If that's all you need, my only recommendation is to order just the rear main. If you're only replacing the main gasket, you don't need to remove the housing for the other gasket. It has slots for a flat head screwdriver, making changing the main seal quick and easy. So far, the primary seal is performing as expected.

JUNK
3/5

When I got my package, I noticed the seal and gasket had been opened in the plastic. I looked at the seal, and there is no printed "this side out" anywhere on it. The seal's edges appeared to be sloppy. The gasket was not only bent, but it was of poor quality as well. It appears that the FELPRO was replaced with a junk set. This has enraged me greatly.

Purchase a turbo, which, by the way, is perfectly functional
4/5

If you're buying this and haven't yet stocked your cart with the items you'll need to boost your 6, you'll be disappointed. 0 or 5. 3 or 4. 8 or whatever number corresponds to your miscalculation. On a scale of one to ten, I gave this a six. 0 liter. There are most likely all the same Lq4/9. Oh, and the gasket and seal are excellent, with 1000 horsepower and a melted piston later, there is still no leak.

It was an excellent solution
5/5

There is no leak, and it works perfectly. This seal should never be lubricated! Install it while it is still wet. When installing the seal, keep the white alignment tool on it. To align the plate, use the correct alignment tool. If you follow all of these steps, the seal will be fine; if you don't, the seal will leak.
