Here's a General Motors tech. I finally got to put it to use on a 6. Silverado with a capacity of 0 liters. As you can see, the kit includes four different threaded rods with various thread pitches to fit various crankshafts. The only one without a hex head to tighten it into the crankshaft is the one for LS engines (which is why I bought it and what I will most likely use it for). It's not a big deal because it's a square drive and I torqued it down with an adjustable wrench. The next step is to install the jam nut and turn it to press the balancer into place. Due to the depth of the balancers, I had to spin the nut with the adjustable wrench at an angle to press it on. The official GM special tool has a long cylinder that allows the same jam nut to be moved further back for easier access, which worked perfectly. Everyone just hammers the balancers to the snout of the crank, installs the crank bolt, and drives it home with an impact, and while I've done it, I know those crank threads will eventually fail. This tool takes care of that worry, and the price is unbeatable. It only gets 4 stars because I've used the official GM special tool, and it's slightly easier to use, as well as the lack of a hex drive for the LS threaded rod. This is an excellent resource. Buy it.
On a 2007 Dodge Charger with a 3. 0L engine, I used this. 5l v6 the tool works well, but you must modify it to work on this motor. If you want to use it without cutting it down 11/2 inch, you must first remove the radiator, but even then, you must shave down some of the threads on the shift to allow it to pass through the harmonic balancer. After that, I simply took the grinder to the side and cut down and made two flat spots on each side so I could use a 12mm wrench. seize or some kind of lubrication on the shaft other than that it was a smooth operation good luck I hope this helps someone the reason it won't get a 5star rating from me is because I had to shave down some of the threads because the length would be fine if the motor was out of the vehicle.
On my 2004 Dodge Durango 5, I used this kit to replace the harmonic balancer. 7L Hemi. To push the pulley on, I needed to turn the large nut with an open end 1 1/8th inch wrench. I had to bend the wrench about 20 times to get it to work. 1 inch below the opened wrench end, at a 25-degree angle. The tool for installing was very helpful. Because the Hemi engine has such a deep harmonic balancer, turning the nut is a little more difficult.
The quality of the cases is excellent. I haven't used this tool yet, but I have used products from other vendors that are similar. The quality and finish of this tool appear to be excellent upon first inspection. For the installation of a balancer, the bearing quality will be adequate. The threaded rod appears to be of excellent quality, and if properly lubricated, it should perform admirably for its intended purpose. For a quality product, I give the tool and the seller high marks.
This is a fantastic resource. The bearing on the push nut makes tightening the nut smooth and easy. Threaded rods in a variety of sizes and shapes for various vehicles. The press-fit harmonic balancer was quick and simple to install. I'm glad I bought it instead of having to go out and buy rod, nuts, and washers to make one. All of the difference is in the bearing.
Everything is in order. I'm really glad I got it. For the LS crank pulley, this is a must-have item. I'm an ASE certified technician, and I've already used this several times at work, and it works flawlessly. To ensure that the threads last as long as possible, I recommend that you grease them. It's well worth the money, and the quality is on par with snap-on products.
It was a great success. The four stars are due to the fact that the bolt that went with my Chrysler 300 3. Without removing the radiator, 5l was an insufficient amount of time. It had to be cut down and a nut welded onto the end. Also, the bearing's threaded shaft wouldn't fit through my Pully, so I had to shave an inch off the threads. After that, everything went smoothly and without a hitch.
I wish I had had this tool before I stripped the threads in the crank's end and the dampener bolt; it would have made my life so much easier. The installer worked perfectly after I replaced the bolt and chased the threads. You won't be able to install the pulley with just the bolt; you'll need a 1 1/2" deep spacer to bring the forcing nut out to the point where you can use a wrench. The puller, on the other hand, performed admirably. If you don't want your hair to fall out, this is a must-have item.
