There are a few things you should be aware of. First and foremost, let me state unequivocally that I am not an engine builder. I'm rebuilding my engine right now because I can't afford to replace it after a rod bearing blew out. Instead, I saw this as an opportunity to learn. I've gained a lot of knowledge in the process. We'll see if I've learned enough to get it to start up again at some point. br>br>Now, regardless of the seller, Enginetech sells this as a complete kit. To make sure everything in the kit fits, look up the part numbers. On Enginetech's website, you can look up part numbers. THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP. DO NOT SKIP IT. Regardless of how the product is advertised (the kit's name / advertisement comes from Enginetech, not the specific seller), you will receive parts that don't belong or are incorrect. br>br>My specific engine is a 5. Cummins 9L 24v Common Rail engine from a 2006 Ram 3500. According to the advertisement, this kit should fit: "FITS: 2004- Cummins Diesel 359, 2009 Dodge Cummins 9L 5. br>br>"9 24v 7,C"br>br>"The rod bearings WILL NOT fit my engine,"br>br>"br>br>"br>br>"br>br>"br>br> It correctly displays the part number and accurately depicts them. I should have double-checked, and so should you. The rod bearings in this kit are listed on Enginetech's website as fitting the previous generation of Cummins engines, not the one advertised. The proper rod bearings are available, but they are not included in this kit. My engine's rod bearings (and, I assume, all five) For the guides to be in the correct place on 9 24v Cummins of this generation, two sets of six bearings are required. When both bearings are installed, the guides should be on opposite sides of the bearings so that they line up. Because the rods don't have offset guides, the set included in this kit won't work. br>br>The freeze plugs that came with this kit were not specifically designed for my engine, though some of them were the right size. I couldn't swap out the entire set because some had the incorrect number of plugs for the size. Some of them were completely unrelated to my engine. The pistons and rings are properly labeled. br>br> The wrist pins _REALLY_ tighten up. To install the connecting rods, don't completely pull them out. You'll have a difficult time getting them back in if you do. Slide them out to one side (but not all the way out), insert the rod, and it should just slide back through the rod and into the other side of the piston. The retainer pins were simple to install, requiring only a needle and thread. pliers with a long nose br>br>The rear main gasket (not the rear main seal) appeared to be a little rough. It appears to be worn in a couple of places, but I don't believe this will be a problem. The other gaskets seemed to be in good condition. br>br>Edit: Two boxes of gaskets are included. While the boxes list the gaskets inside, there are no labels on the inside of the boxes. I mean, I could tell which was the head gasket and which was the valve cover gasket just by looking at them. There are, however, a few smaller o- I had/have no idea what I was supposed to do with the rings. Depending on your level of experience, this may or may not be relevant to you. I'd take another star away for this, but I'm guessing the majority of people who buy this are much more knowledgeable about them than I am. Simply be conscious. Only the gaskets, seals, and o-rings do not have part numbers on the boxes. rings. br>br>I have no regrets about my purchase, and I do not believe these are of poor quality. I don't believe so, at least not yet. The only way to find out is to wait. I wanted to deduct two stars because of the bad rod bearings, but I'm only going to deduct one. I can include photos of what I'm referring to if necessary.
Great company to work with; I ordered the wrong year and they sent me the correct parts; very pleasant to deal with. br>.
Perfecto.
