Questions & Answers

At which point do you connect the hot start engine booster?

As for your specific model of heater, it connects to a regular 120V outlet just like the ones you have in Other models may also be able to offer different connection options based on the needs of the customer. I would appreciate it if you contacted me if you have any further questions. Our Team at Thunder Parts

When the coolant does not get hot enough to open the thermostat in the engine, how is this able to circulate the coolant?

A heater like this is primarily used for off-peak times In the case of generator sets and road engines, the idea is to heat the engine block, not the radiator, which would consume A hotter engine thermostat opens up the radiator, causing too much heated coolant to flow into it. There are in fact two points on the engine block where the hoses should be connected. Those that use thermosiphon work in the same way. In order for coolant to circulate, there is a "hot hose" leaving the heater, which empties into a higher point on the block, and a return hose from a higher point on the engine, which empties into the bottom of the heater. Before plugging in the heater, be sure to bleed the air out of the hoses and heater. Call us as soon as possible for tech support

Can you tell me how big the hose connections are?

This style of heater is equipped with the 5/8" hose nipses used on all the Hotstart TPS heaters. I wish you the best,

Can you give me an idea of how long the cord is?

Please note that the power cords on all TPS models are as follows The diameter of the bore is 48" We can supply you with longer power cables upon request. If you need any other information, please feel free to contact us. Become a Thunder Parts Team member today!

This is the correct way to do it
5/5

A warm start unit is designed to provide a warm start to standby generators, and this one replaced the one on our generator that stopped Although I haven't had it on long enough to test durability, everything else seemed to be fine.
