Questions & Answers

Is this compatible with a Toyota FJ40 from 1978?

If your 78 Toyota water jacket is compatible with a 74 Pontiac Firebird Bird 350 engine,

What hex size should I use for the ports?

There are two sizes available. 3/8 npt is the number one. I'm not sure what the other one is called, but it's a smaller one.

Is this going to fit in a 1984 Chevy Blazer with a 305 engine?

If your k5 water outlet is supposed to point from the center of the engine to the driver's front corner of the car, then yes, this is a sbc part. Look at where the upper radiator hose connects to the radiator. Take a look under the hood to see what's going on.

Is it compatible with the Le Sabre 3800 from the year 2000? Is there a housing for the thermostat?

This isn't going to work. Not a good idea.

THINGS TO AVOID - BUYING IS A MISTAKE
3/5

I bought two of these from different places and they both had the same flaw - The casting is poor, and the port that should fit over the thermostat is oval rather than round- It's not even close to being a perfect circle. The image above has not been stretched in any way. That's how bad it is. It's plain to see that it's not round. In one direction, it's almost a quarter inch wider than the other. It does not fit properly and leaks as a result. I got one from an online retailer and the other from a local parts store - They were both having problems with the same thing. If you don't want to be frustrated by the lack of quality control, don't buy this part.

Best price/quality ratio
5/5

Honestly, the best one for the money that didn't have hideous chrome on it that immediately leaked, and had extra ports that I was able to block after tightening way more than I thought was necessary and pipe taping them.

As stated in the advertisement
4/5

It appears to be exactly as I anticipated, with the exception that the finish is slightly smoother than depicted. The gasket in the photo is loose in the box, which I eventually discovered. This housing has two sensor ports, one of which is 3/8" in diameter. The threads on the 3/8" port appear to be a little uneven, and I'm having some difficulty threading the fitting I bought into the housing. With a little WD40 and a longer wrench, I believe those threads will work. Designed in China.

Because the base opening is oval, I didn't use the included gasket for fear of pieces breaking off and circulating through my cooling system
4/5

The reusable aluminum gasket with the orange rubber seal that I purchased works perfectly. The clearance on the side where the neck points is too tight, preventing proper torque with the bolts on my engine; I'll be switching to 3/8-inch bolts. 16 x 1- Allen bolt, 1/2" diameter.

A great deal! There is no way to beat the price, and it would be difficult to find a more durable casting
5/5

This water neck is a HEAVY WATER NECK! THE BASE IS MADE OF THICK ALUMINUM. This housing will never break or deform in my opinion. No sealer was required because the provided bung plugs were tight. I took out the bungs and put sealer in their place. Everything went smoothly. I used a simple file to touch up the outlet in two spots where there were tiny burrs; it's a great product for the money. It's the perfect size for a 350 sbc.

Make sure the neck is at the proper angle; mine was 45 degrees, but not at an angle away from the front
4/5

It might work on other styles, especially older ones, but it didn't work on my OBS truck, a 93 Chevy, because it caused my heater hose to turn towards the alternator. Before you buy, double-check that you have the proper angles.

Super sturdy and high-quality
5/5

Don't be fooled by the low price; the product I received was exactly as shown in the photo. It is far more durable than the original, and it appears to be much more beefy and robust. The gasket flange is particularly important. It has made me very happy. It even came with a gasket.

Make sure the hose clocking is correct; I was excited to find this to add an extra temp gauge sensor, but the hose stub clocking was incorrect
5/5

One that pointed straight out was what I needed.
