It does what it's supposed to do. All fan speeds can be controlled with the knob. This installation is relatively quick, but take care to not damage the red tab on the socket where the resistor will be housed. There is a possibility of it breaking easily. Tool usage should not be used on this. Depress the inner locking part with a flat edge or small slotted screwdriver while pulling the original resistor out of its socket to enable it to be removed.
