What hose size is required for this valve?

The heater hose comes in a 5/8 inch diameter.

Will this fit my 2000 Dodge van, which has five doors? 9L V8?

No, I doubt it. I put it in a cougar with a mercury of 76.

I'd like to put this valve to some other use. When you apply vacuum to this valve, does it stay open or close?

I just got one, and it opens normally without the use of a vacuum cleaner!

It appears to be a metal Heater Valve in the picture - NOT SO! I'm restoring a 1985 Chevy El Camino and needed this part to go with the installation of a new GM 350 V8 engine

The fact that this was an original AC Delco (GM subsidiary) part drew me in, but unfortunately, it was all plastic. Metal was used for the original part that came with the 1984 GM 305 V8 engine. I had the impression that I had been duped.
