Questions & Answers

Do you have a copy of Part 599? For a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, what is the 211 hvac control code?

No, I don't think so. My truck is a 2006 Chevy Suburban 2500 8 passenger. 1 l l t with RPO code AC from cj2. I used this as a stand-in. I had to return it because it didn't work like OEM. Additionally, the buttons and dials have far too bright lights.

Is this the right part for a 2003 Chevy Silverado 5? LS model with three extended cabs?

Yes, as long as the temperature is controlled by an automatic system.

Is it already equipped with aftermarket leds?

Yes, it makes use of a light-emitting diode (LED).

It doesn't work as well as the original
3/5

This is what I put on my 2006 GMC Sierra SLT. The unit initially worked as it should have after programming. br>Then I discovered these things that I don't like. br>I spoke with Dorman directly, and they confirmed that the problems listed below are common with this unit and my vehicle. They are, however, nowhere to be found. This took three weeks and $160 out of my pocket to have a replacement sent to me at my expense, only to discover that it worked in the same way as the unit I thought was defective. 1. br>br> When changing the temperature in Auto Mode, the mode (dash, floor, defrost, etc. ) is not displayed. The original equipment manufacturer's device does.
2. The temperature control knob on the driver's side controls both sides in Auto mode. When the passenger adjusted the temperature control knob on the OEM module, you could press and hold the Auto button, and the entire unit would be controlled by the drivers side knob. That isn't going to work on this machine. br>Once the passenger has set the temperature in Auto mode, the only way to change it is to press the re-set button. Unplugging the unit from the vehicle or disconnecting the battery will give you control of the entire unit.
3. The actual display has very dim lighting that makes it difficult to see during the day. br>br>I returned my unused module with the proper RMA label attached to PartsHawk's return customer service, which is at best mediocre. The package was delivered on April 12th, according to my tracking information. They still had no record of receiving my return as of the 23rd of April. Before PartsHawk could authorize my refund, I had to provide them with my tracking information. And, of course, this will take three days. It could take 5 to 10 business days.

Not at all what was promised! Dorman 599 was purchased
3/5

On January 20, 2020, the 211 HVAC Control Module will be released. The item is as described in terms of fit. However, it does not perform as expected when compared to OEM:
1. By holding the Auto button, the product will not sync in automatic mode for the driver and passenger. On each side, there is an auto mode, but it is not synchronized. When the Auto button was pressed, the OEM control module synced the temperature and switched to Auto mode.
2. When the vehicle is started and the engine is not at operating temperature, the unit (in auto mode with temperature set to 72) opens wide. When calling for heat, the OEM part in auto mode did not increase fan speed until the vehicle had reached operating temperature.
3. When in heating mode, set the temperature to 72 degrees Fahrenheit on both sides. Cold and warm air are blown at random by this unit. It appears that it is constantly cycling from warm to cold.
4. Taking the module out of auto mode and setting the fan to a fixed speed does not fix the varying / cycling temperature, as mentioned in number 3 above.
5. The lights on my factory HVAC control module had stopped working, so I bought this unit. While I'm glad the new unit's lights work, they're too bright to be useful. To make the dash lights less distracting, I had to dim them almost all the way to dark. I purchased and installed all new dash controls in the hopes of having consistent lights on all dash switches and buttons, assuming this was due to other dash lights being off. In comparison to the other new dash switches/lights, the HVAC module is still extremely bright.
6. Due to the failure of the unit's lights, I had to replace the original HVAC controls module. Except for the lights on some buttons not working, the OEM unit worked perfectly.
7. I double-checked my module programming according to the instructions on the unit packaging, and I believe I have the unit programmed correctly.

The product was of poor quality and only lasted a few months
3/5

I decided to give this product a try because it was reasonably priced, but the low price isn't enough to make it worthwhile to purchase. It is unable to perform the majority of the functions of the stock unit, and it stopped working completely after only three months (just outside the return window). br>br>Even though it has dual zone temperature controls, it can't control both zones at the same time. (When you set a temperature, it only affects one side of the equation. ) )br>When in Auto mode, the unit "hunts" for the desired temperature by switching back and forth between warm and cool. br>When it's cold outside, it's cold inside. Before blowing air, the stock unit lets the engine warm up. When you start the engine, this unit blasts cold air into the cabin. br>At night, the LED backlighting can be blinding. br>The display dimmer becomes stuck on the darkest setting, rendering it impossible to see in daylight. You're better off buying a used stock unit from a junk yard or on Ebay. br>br>There's no way to sync settings between the driver and passenger sides. br>br>You're better off buying a used stock unit from a junk yard or on Ebay.

It works and installs without a hitch, but it's not quite right
3/5

I ordered this because the temperature adjustment knob on my old one had stopped working properly. Because the OEM version costs $500, I decided that this was a better option. br>br>Installation is simple. Remove the dash paneling, undo two bolts, unplug, and then reassemble. There are also some programming instructions included in the box that should be followed. br>br>My main gripes are:br>br>1) It's much brighter than the OEM buttons and gauge cluster. br>br>2) With the truck controls, it dims and brightens, but it's always much brighter. This bothers me at night, but it also bothers me because it gives the impression of being cheap. 2) The 7 segment numeric display and associated indicators started out fine, but after about two weeks, they became dim enough that reading them during the day was difficult. br>br>As a result, one part of the unit's lighting is too bright at night, while the other is too dark during the day. br>br>Otherwise, it works and costs a lot less than $500, so I'd probably buy it again if I didn't have any other options, though I'd probably check junk yards first.

The 2005 Hummer H2 is in excellent condition
5/5

The vents on my heater were not turning off. As soon as I installed it and programmed it (which, by the way, the instructions were a little off), I was ready to use it. It was the AC button, not the recirculate button, that I had to press after I got it to the correct code, "code 3 for hummers," as the instructions stated, and it worked perfectly right away. Used ones were going for $600 on ebay when I looked, and this one was a fraction of that. I despise how people assume that just because it's a Hummer, parts should be ten times more expensive. It's nothing more than a GMC truck. In any case, it was well worth the money.
