The following tips are intended to help you remove and replace the orifice tune whenever you replace your AC system or compressor
5/5

This tube will need to be replaced if you're replacing the locked up AC compressor. If you open any part of your AC system, be sure to responsibly reclaim any refrigerant/Freon before opening. (Jiffy Lube does this as part of their AC recharge package or on their own at It was a 2001 GMC Yukon XL V8 Vortec with the application. The orifice tube is located in one of the lines going to the accumulator, and if it has been in there for some time, removing it could be difficult. By pre-treating it, you can quickly and easily remove it Clean the system with the AC flush before recharging the system to remove metal, oils, and residue that your now defunct AC compressor probably re-washed into the system before going out. This will help to keep your system running smoothly. Using Supercool Auto A/C Power Clean, I was able to maintain my car's climate controls To eliminate these contaminants that can damage your new compressor, flush the newly installed compressor with a cleaning aerosol can from PepBoys. NewCompressor WithClutch), one end attaches to the compressor by forming a "Y" and the other end sits near the opening that connects to the accumulator by either forming two lines or a single line. I sealed one of the two open ends with my thumb, blew air through the adjacent hole, waited a few seconds, and suddenly the orifice tube literally shot out with force through the third hole! Safety goggles are a must you and anyone who is helping, as this method will cause any excess AC line cleaner and anything else out of the intake to shoot out. Another option would be to get a pair of thin needle nose pliers and try to As the tube sits in there for a long time, it becomes harder to remove with pliers, but with pre-cut tape you can easily remove it With the flush, you should be able to lubricate. The process of trying to fish it out, especially if it breaks inside the tube, is extremely time-consuming and frustrating. When this happened to me, I went straight with the flush and air compressor technique, which took a few seconds to build up pressure inside the tube before it finally broke free. Just replace the line when the old one is removed and reattach the line when you are done. It doesn't matter how far in or out the tube is as the line reattachment will push it in further if necessary. This means that you don't have to worry much about whether it's too far in or not. I recommend watching the tube closely in the line, or taking a picture with your phone, to see how far it sits down before removing it, so you are aware of how far it should be pushed. The orifice tube still won't be able to go in that far as the end is built to accept it and it won't be able to go in that far, but I wouldn't be too rough with it since it Furthermore, ACDelco 15-5811 must be replaced along with this orifice tube (

For the 10422 GM Original Equipment Air Conditioning Accumulator, I recommend that the tensioner (ACDelco 38159 Professional Automatic Belt Tensioner and Pulley Assembly ) and AC belt (ACDelco 4K378 Professional V-belt) be replaced. The ribbed serpentine belt should be replaced at this time. It's also a good idea to check your high side-port pressure core valves (ACDelco 15-800-15) as well. GM Original Equipment Air Conditioning Service Valve 5438) for leaks while you're at it since the high side tends to fail and the $6 valve could be leaking Freon coolant all it took you all this time to complete. My review of the core valve and several other part listed in this review can be found on my blog as part of my AC compressor replacement project. Thanks for the post - I hope you find it useful or at least a good starting point.

This OEM part from AC Delco is the perfect match for the rear AC system in the 2003 Yukon XL
5/5

A tube with a very small orifice is not only a very cheap part, but it is also potentially extremely important to A filter serves two purposes It filters out most contaminants from liquid and oil refrigerants and provides the proper pressure differential, which is essential for a system to function properly and efficiently. A partially clogged orifice tube will not provide the proper reduction of refrigerant pressure, resulting in inefficient cooling of the passenger compartment air. An increased strain will also be placed If the compressor's orifice tube is severely or completely obstructed, the compressor will cease to function. The few extra dollars spent and minimal additional repair work will ensure the system runs as efficiently as it possibly can and lasts as long as it should. The orifice tube I purchased fit perfectly into my 2003 GMC Yukon XL with rear AC. Newer or different trucks use the "2nd design," which is larger in diameter, that use orifice tubes with two different sizes. A portion of the AC hose is situated on my truck where the (1st design) orifice tube can be found. It has a diameter of The line should be no greater than 500", if larger than that, then the "2nd design" orifice tube is required. In general, I am pleased with the quality of this AC Delco part, and I strongly recommend using it for every air conditioning system that you install. Below is a picture of the orifice tube removed. Swirls of very fine metal shavings are clearly visible in the tube.

Here are some things to note if you are ordering this part If you are ordering this orifice tube, take a look at your old one before you order it There is a thing in front of the radiator which looks like this)

It may also be necessary to replace the hose. reminding yourself to replace the accumulator on a regular basis. There is a low cost associated with them. If your old one has been rusted, put some PAG into it during the installation Place the new orifice tube about halfway in the new orifice tube ring and slide it in until the o-ring is no longer visible All rings are seated to the fullest extent. Considering this system lacks an expansion valve, the orifice tube is doing a crucial job and keeping the system running Installing it so that the operating system functions properly is essential In the case of a vacuum pump that has been sitting around for a while, you should replace the oil in it with completely new I would like to know if there is a Robinair High-vacuum pump oil - 0 Volts - Vacuum pump oil It is the equivalent of one quart). Although your older vacuum pump probably works fine, it won't make a good vacuum with old oil (the oil is hygroscopic and absorbs moisture from the air as it evaporates).

The machine works like it did when it was new! A new high pressure sensor, low pressure sensor, and new sensor for the back of the compressor were installed along with a new GM Schrader valve and new high side fitting
5/5

I emptied the old accumulator into a measuring cup and added it to my My 97 Chevy Dually and my 99 Chevy Tahoe both systems worked perfectly cold air again after replacing the oil with ACDelco peg 150 refrigerant oil. I then drained the old oil in the new compressor and replaced it with ACDelco pag 150 oil.
