Questions & Answers

Is "Except Hybrid" a reference to the hybrid model?

Okay, I see what you mean, but I can see how this can be confusing from my perspective. After it says that a 25-minute install time is required, the note clarifies that "Except Hybrid". Unless the hitch does not work with hybrid models or it takes more than 25 minutes, that would imply the hitch will not work with hybrids. From the manufacturers instruction site I see that it claims to fit the hybrid models, so I assume that means it is compatible with this unit... it just takes a little extra time to install (probably because of the holes to be drilled) Surely this should be pretty clear? The design of this hitch is excellent, if you must contact the manufacturer to ensure that it will fit your vehicle, and to learn what exactly "Except Hybrid"

When it comes to receiver size, what is it?

It is very well fitted by the CURT Basket Style Cargo Carrier 18151.

Are there Mariner models with backup sensors that this will work on?

There is a statement on the package to that effect. There is a lot of weight on the hitch

What are the fittings for a spare tire that is full size?

It perfectly fits under my truck, as I have the crankup factory spare. There is no part of the tire covered by it at any time.

My 2005 Ford Escape is compatible with this product By the end of 20 minutes, the frame will be stronger
5/5

An install should not take more than 20 minutes. There were too many reviews in which users complained that they had difficultly using 2. . . The hitch should be stowed on jack stands (if necessary, lift it)
2. A bolt should be pushed through the hitch to secure it to the frame. ** 2. The lead wire must be fed through the hitch holes and out of the extra hole in the frame. Connect the lead wire to all the bolts and to the anchor.
4. The anchor should be inserted into the hole first by sliding it up the wire a bit and pushing it into the hole. *fr>5. The bolt will fit into the frame hole when it is tightened*6. Connect the lead wire to the bolt, then pull the bolt through the frame and into the hitch
7. Remove the lead wire and thread the nut onto Using a nut (like the other 4)
9, thread the permanent bolt through the frame and hitch it to the frame. When all bolts have been installed and there is a loose nut on each bolt, tighten all of the nuts. In a parking lot, a car bumped the hitch with its hood, which led the hitch to remain on the Escape for a few hours. The Escape was not damaged or the hitch was not damaged.

I like the product, and it's easy to install
5/5

The box was in good condition and arrived in a decent box. There is some weight to this hitch, but it is well built. It would be unfortunate if your new hitch got scraped or chipped. The installation The instructions caught my eye, and I threw them away after just glancing at There is a good video from etrailer for my exact model and make (2007 Ford Escape) that suggests lowering the exhaust, but I am unsure how lowest it can go. I am lazy and did not do it. In the case of the forward bolts, I installed them first, then leaned the unit on my stomach (a bit of a beer belly helps here). install the washer/nut loosely on one side, In order to tighten the remaining four bolts, the floor jack held the unit in place well. You only have to tighten the torque to complete the job.
This receiver features flawless design and impressive build quality. The installation process is ridiculously easy as long as you realize "Lefty Loosie, Righty Tighty" and have some basic hand tools. We don't recommend putting too many screws in this, as the holes don't line up perfectly. My highly recommended product is if this fits your car, truck, or SUV!.

The product is of good quality and easy to install
5/5

The product is well made and the installation is straightforward. The spare tire can be easily accessed from the factory. The full 2" receiver fits this This would be used for light towing or accessories like a bike rack and extra storage off the rear of the The product is good. I would buy it.

A hint for installation was included in the I was able to fit right in
5/5

An install can be done by one person with the help of a jack held up on one side. Tip Install the front bolts more easily by inserting the provided wire bolt installation tools up through the holes on either side of the front bolt, then carefully pushing out through the back access points. Once the reinforcement plate is on the wire, thread the carriage bolt tip into the installation tool and then slide the reinforcement plate on. It makes it easier for the wire to pass through inside the frame this way.

The product is great, but I have one suggestion
4/5

I had to look up the installation video that I found on YouTube to install the hitch once I had it set up. It saved me a lot of time since I searched for a video on hitch installation for my vehicle and discovered this was perfect. The reason this helped me so much, is because whatever that instruction sheet was intended to be, it was not very It wouldn't be as hard as you think to have an instruction sheet with a barcode that the user scans and it displays the video installation that YOU want Having this information would make your business more efficient, as well as improve customer service. It would also be helpful to know why a half dozen additional heavy duty bolts were included that could not be used. You are a little disconcerted to discover that there are leftover parts when installing a trailer hitch.

The hole does not need to be drilled
5/5

There is no need to drill, but it is easiest if you have two people to help ( one on each side to hold it up). Our vehicles have been hitched many times, but this was our easiest because the hitch had only six bolts and no drilling was required.

Taking a look at the 2010 Ford Escape for the first time
5/5

Even though the box the product came in was damaged, I was not bothered as I was told at the time of purchase that it wouldn't come The amount of hardware that came with the receiver overwhelmed me at first, but I soon realized that it was made to fit multiple vehicles, and they all don't share the same hardware and accessories. We initially thought the receiver was installed crooked on the vehicle, but after further inspection it turned out that one side of the hitch was longer before the bend than the other side, so it seems lopsided even though it does The last thing, is that anyone can do this install if they have the necessary.

Be sure to include all parts! A two-person job was required to install it on my 2012 Ford Expedition Limited
3/5

Because one of the nuts was wrong, there was a time delay. I headed to Home Depot for a replacement because one of them was not sized properly. What started as a 45 minute job turned into a 2-hour one because we first questioned whether or not we were doing it correctly and realized it was a manufacturer's mistake. It has yet to be fitted with a bike rack but so far it appears to be very well made.
