Questions & Answers
You can either cut off the old fitting and use a hose clamp to replace it, or you can purchase a hose that already has the fitting installed.
That isn't correct for the year or engine configuration.
If the old one is light tan in color, it should work as a heater core inlet.
This is where the heater hose connects, and the coupling is attached to the firewall.

I was unable to locate the brown one. The other black one was available at all local auto parts, so I bought it because the salesman said it looked the same. It isn't, and I had no intention of going to the dealer. For the time being, I pushed the hole in without it. This one caught my eye, so I purchased it. I yanked off the old hose and replaced it with this one, and I was good to go. These are difficult to come by in Utah without paying an arm and a leg. It's possible that I'll purchase the other one, which isn't leaking yet but could.
This is the original equipment manufacturer's fitting, which is not available aftermarket. It will be a perfect match for the one you're replacing. So if you.
It's a simple installation; just make sure you have a hose release tool on hand.
This was an exact match for the previous one, which had been on my truck for 15 years. Let's hope it lasts as long as the first.
I was able to get in without difficulty. On Chevy Silverado trucks from the year 2005, this is a common issue.
As long as you have the tool to release this fitting, changing it couldn't be easier. It seemed too simple to put on a new one. There were no leaks found.
This is the right answer.
