A dealer overtightened the filter cap during an oil change so I had to use an impact wrench to loosen it. I purchased a spare because I had to use an impact wrench to loosen the current filter cap on the car. In my opinion, the worst design is this one since it is made of plastic and requires a special tool to take off, and it doesn't necessarily save you money compared to a spinning wheel Oil filters are no different from replacing the cartridge, at least from a cost perspective. I guess from a recycling perspective, it’s a little greener, but not by much since you deal with oil waste. But that said,.
I still thought this was a great improvement over the 8 year old It is apparent that this cap becomes tired after years of heating and cooling and permanently expands, making it very hard For fear of breaking it on a Sunday, my oil changer refused to force it. I returned to the store after receiving this item and it was installed without a hitch. Oil changes following the initial oil change were without complaint.
There's no better way to spend your time. In response to my dealer's $50 offer, I declined. Because my old one, which had a metal cylindrical center piece, somehow broke off during an oil change, I had to buy this one. I was fortunate that the spring base was still intact. The last one I had was manufactured in China by Dorman. I think it will last forever unless you abuse it. This one looks like the real thing, I'm expecting it to last forever.
I haven't used it yet, but I expect it will be a great product. This replacement came from a DIY store since the original had been mangled by an impact wrench - I bought it for my next oil change I'm happy that the mechanic is happy. Toyota brought it to me in a car. A Toyota part arrived in a clearly marked carton, and I have no reason to believe it was not genuine. * * * It was delivered a day early.
It seems, if I'm to understand from what I read online, that these will fail after ten Thank you so much for sharing this with me! A complete cessation of the oil leak has been achieved.
It was crucial that I had an extra filter in order to set the new filter before I went under the car. Rather than take out the old one and put it in the drain bucket, I simply remove it, put the new one in, and I'm done. Once the oil has been changed, I clean the dirty oil filter cap to make sure it's ready for the next.
The meter arrived in perfect working order without any leaks. Keep them tight but not too tight. The gap was actually a tiny bit bigger than the lip, so I left it as is.
I used it on my 2015 Corolla, and it worked well.
