I've only swapped out the same switch, but you'll need the main controlling unit in addition to the switch.

On my 2014 GMC Sierra, it was a breeze to install. I received a notification about the service trailer brakes. I installed it almost six months ago, and no more annoying notifications have appeared since then. br>Update—- The year is 2020, and the date is August 9th. There are still no notifications for service trailer brakes. Easy fix.
After months of getting a "Service Trailer Brake System" warning while driving and taking my truck to the dealer to try to fix the problem (which they couldn't because they couldn't get the error code to trigger), I finally got it fixed. I did some internet and forum research and came across this product, which many people said could be purchased and replaced to solve the problem. AND IT WAS COMPLETELY COMPLETELY COMPLETELY COMPLETE Since replacing it, there have been no problems or warnings. It only took 5 minutes to put it together, thanks to a YouTube tutorial, and it works like new.
2015 Suburban "DING DING DING" For the past couple of years, my wife's 2015 suburban has displayed an obnoxious "service trailer brakes" message. I took it to the Chevy dealer, but I refused to let them attempt to repair it because the idiots clearly had no idea what was wrong when they began explaining what needed to be done. I replaced the module over the spare tire after some Googling, but it didn't make any difference. While waiting for my wife to exit a store and hearing the error message, I googled again the other day and discovered YouTube videos on how to replace this module. So I went out and bought one, replaced it myself in about 15 minutes, and it fixed the problem. I'm very pleased with this purchase.
My original one gave me a lot of trouble with "service trailer brake system," so I quickly replaced it in the dash and haven't had any issues since!.
My vexing "service trailer brake system" notification is no longer displayed.
My "Service Trailer Brake" alerts (2015 3500 GMC Duramax) have been resolved.
This was said to fix the "service trailer brake" messages in a number of reviews. On mine, it didn't, and I now have no trailer brakes at 36,100 miles (yes, 100 miles past the warranty period). I gave it five stars because it was much less expensive than the Chevy dealer, but it didn't fix my problem. I'm sure GM will issue a recall on this very common problem after I spend more money chasing down parts.
My 2015 Chevy Suburban's display displayed a message about the service trailer system. The truck came equipped with a towing package that included factory towing and trailer controls, which was replaced by this. There will be no more messages!.
