Oh, I forgot to mention that my interior is black, and it went perfectly with everything.
Yes, the description stated that it would only fit models from 2013 onwards. On my 2012 Ram 1500, however, it worked perfectly. I will say that when comparing the bottom contours of the Dorman replacement and the 2012 OEM part, the Dorman replacement has a slightly different contour than the OEM part, but it isn't noticeable once installed. Maybe that's why there's a difference.
I'm not sure, but it seemed to work fine in my 2015 Ram 1500 Laramie. If it has the same appearance, I believe it will work.
I purchased this for a 2014 Ram, so I can't comment on older models.

My 2014 RAM 2500 responded well to the product. br>The steps I took are outlined below.
1. Remove the small plastic panel above the brake release lever (it comes off easily by hand). The rod is now connected to the old broken handle, as you can see.
2. Remove the rod from the handle by rotating the plastic connector on the broken handle (this is a locking mechanism that attaches the rod to the handle) and pulling it away from the handle (pulling the rod away from the handle may take some force).
3. Rotate the broken hinges up and pull them away from the steal axle they're connected to.
4. Web videos now instruct you to attach the steal rod to the handle after placing it on the axle. The following trick, on the other hand, made it a lot easier for me. In my case, the steel rod that connects the brake release to the brake release handle was completely removed. The same connection lock is used on both ends of the rod. It's simple to connect the rod to the handle with the rod removed, then slip the rod back through the opening in the dash and secure the handle to the rotating dash axle. (Be sure to lock the rod in place by rotating the locking mechanism on the handle. ) With the release handle attached, there is far more room to attach the rod to the bake release mechanism than there is to attach the rod to the brake release mechanism.
5. Replacing the steal rod with the brake release mechanism under the dash is the next step. (Ensure that the rod is locked to the brake release mechanism by rotating the locking mechanism. ) To ensure that it works, test it.
6. Finally, replace the plastic panel above the brake release handle (it should just snap back into place; it's easier to put on than it is to take off).
Here are some suggestions. This is a non-returnable item. OEM part that fit and functioned perfectly in my 2013 RAM. The color was a good match for the dashboard, and the plastic thickness appeared to be adequate. Here are some pointers for those who want to install this model themselves. Directly above the handle, a cover plate pops out and toward the seat. This allows you to access the brake lever assembly, which you can then extend, secure, and connect to the new handle. Finally, pop the top two hinges into place by releasing the lever while doing so. To make the hinges easier to snap onto the axle, I used a little synthetic grease on them. The replacement procedure is a little awkward at first, but once you remove the cover plate to see what you're doing, it'll make sense.
Because the description stated that it would fit a newer truck, I purchased it hoping it would fit my 2011 2500 hemi with brake controller. Install took 10 minutes with 2 screws under the dash, popping off the steering cover and then the side cover by the door, then 3 torx bit screws for the IBC, and pulling it out (easier if you unplug everything, but you don't have to) side by side comparison the old one had a bit more square edge and had a white (P), but the new one fit and works great and you can barely tell the difference. The only reason for the four stars is that durability will be determined over time.
I'd recently purchased a new 2015 car, and the first time I used the parking brake, I yanked the release handle right off. As a result, Amazon came to the rescue with a low-cost alternative. This was a perfect fit, color match, and installation was a breeze. An excellent substitute for becoming overly engrossed with the release.
My 2011 Ram 3500 fits perfectly and performs admirably. "Made in the USA" was written on the original piece. It's been over a year since it was broken. In the mail, a new replacement arrived quickly. "Made in China" is written on the replacement. It fits well; now all I have to do is hope it lasts a while. And it appears to be a lot better. It's not a good idea to have that broken handle hanging around.
The color and texture of the plastic perfectly match the trim level. It takes less than 15 minutes to complete the installation. When removing or replacing plastic parts, always use caution. Use of metal tools is discouraged.
When the vehicle year and model are entered, this Amazon site for vehicle parts displays a "will fit" or "will not fit" notice. This is an important purchasing tool because it reduces the need for returns. In addition, the cost was a quarter of what it would have cost at a dealer for the same item. If you're willing to do some minor repairs yourself, this is a fantastic deal. David C.
This was purchased for my 2012 Ram 2500 equipped with an Integrated Brake Controller (IBC). I needed a replacement after the factory part snapped, which is fairly common. This component is perfect for the job. Simply remove the knee plate beneath your steering wheel (2 screws at the bottom), the side access panel on the driver's side of the dash, and the screws that hold your IBC in place. After that, snapping in the part is a breeze; if you don't have an IBC, your job will be even simpler. Thank you for the fantastic addition! I hope it lasts as long as the original.
