The box looked clean, fresh, and undamaged, but I have no way of knowing for sure. The part is widely known as a failure point for these vehicles, so I wouldn't suspect that it is an My order was delivered very quickly, and I was able to replace a part without issue.

A perfect fix for the trunk closing problem in a Mercedes SL55 AMG (mine is a 2003)

I found forum posts about how to fix a problem where the trunk closing mechanism stops working (or works once the battery is disconnected). I know there are documented ways to glue and seal various ports that might be leaking vacuum, but since most of that work was in removing and replacing, I wonder why not purchase a new unit through Amazon?

It took me about an hour, really. Although I'm not an expert, I would grant that it is better I don't have huge hands (an aside, the old adage has no merit That's just my thought) because adjusting to the right size and snapping it in place was rather challenging. This is what I know now (and I hope you pay attention to it) When removing the old unit, the arm clamp will pop off without having to be unscrewed, and you'll have to consider the length of the existing arm and try to match it when installing the new one. See the videos on the Internet You did a great job and I'm proud of you. It still only took me an hour, maybe a bit less, even with that faux pas. It's WAY less expensive to do this yourself than having the dealer do it (and pay for those parts). I highly recommend this trunk closure device for the R230 (Mercedes SLK 55 AMG and certain SL 500s). In general, Amazon is a great company.
