This is for a 2005 Chevy 2500HD that I purchased. The fog lamp button on the old switch wouldn't properly reset, so it failed. I'm guessing something went wrong with the spring mechanism on the inside. It took me about 7 minutes to replace this switch because it fit perfectly. Simply lower your steering wheel as far as it will go, then turn the key just enough to put the transmission in first gear (lowest handle position) without starting it. Make sure the parking brake is engaged, then pry the plastic frame around the dash off with a small screw driver. Make a mental note of where the clips are so you can replace it with ease. Don't make it too difficult for yourself. It'll just pop off if you work it gently. The switch is now available to you. Pry the clips at the top and bottom of the installed switch up with your small screw driver. To get it out, you'll need to wiggle it a little. On the back of the switch, there's a wire harness. By lifting the connector's clip, you can easily remove it. Then simply replace your old switch and repeat the process in reverse. It's very simple. br>I'm not sure how reliable this switch will be in the long run, but it went in without a hitch and is working perfectly.
Amazing. It looks exactly like the stock part, is simple to install, and lights up in the same color as the stock part. It has a black face plate, and my interior is charcoal gray, so it's a little different in color, but I just replaced it with the face plate from my stock one, which was also simple. I would strongly suggest it.
My 2004 Silverado 2500HD already had factory fog lights installed, so it was a no-brainer. All I had to do was plug this switch into the factory harness, set up a relay, and connect my fog lights. weather-related lighting-related lighting-related lighting-related lighting-related lighting-related lighting I added a diode between my high beam relay 85 terminal and the fog-light relay terminal, which was already in place just above the front engine support. The cathode end (the side with the stripe) should be facing the fog-light relay 85 terminal. Relay of light This is how I'm going to do it. When my high beams are turned on, the lights turn on, and I have manual control when my low beams are turned on. I used heat-shrink tubing to seal the diode. Everything is fine now that the tubing has been shrunk. If you do this, keep in mind that the fog-free zone will be reduced. Because the light relay is installed backwards from the other relays, pay close attention to the terminal numbers when putting it together.
I bought this switch and an ACDelco headlight switch at the same time, but neither of them came with lights that matched my original lights. These have a lot of green lighting. That wouldn't bother me as much if the lights in this switch weren't so dim, much less so than the headlight switch. In addition, the plastic on the foglight button appears to be cracked. Some areas are gleaming, while others are rough. It was also covered in hair and dust, but it works, so that's all that matters.
It's less expensive than buying from a dealer, and it works like new. After years of use and abuse, the silicone return plunger inside these switches fails, necessitating replacement in order for the switch to spring back after being depressed. I'm not sure if they fade to white over time or if a combination of use and sun fade causes them to light up white over time, or if they changed the color, but these are a lighter blue when backlit compared to my older yellow/white factory backlit components.
After watching an online video, the installation was simple. Approximately 5 minutes.
I just finished installing this switch a few days ago. It took longer to get to the installation area than it took to complete the installation. Because my truck lacks fog lights, finding the wire harness complete was a pleasant surprise. I'm looking for a simple fog light installation. Switch of good quality.
It was perfect for my 2004. 5 LLY Duramax 2500HD Silverado LS Duramax 2500HD Silverado LS Duramax 2500HD Silverado LS I'm overjoyed to have received an OEM button for my dog lights! I was able to power my LED lights by adding a wire and relay to the fuse box in the engine compartment. I am overjoyed!.
