Questions & Answers

Does it have to be mounted on a windshield for it to work?

Designed for installation on windshield rails up to 1-inch thick, the 11073 attaches to the rail with screws The thickness of the material is 1/8 inch. There is no need to use it in any other way.

Is there a way for you to send a picture of the mirror's back? In order to make this mirror work with the arm I have, I want to see if I can modify it to ?

The mirror is not pictured

Is it going to fit a WSS 24 foot ?

The boat I own is a 22 1/2 foot Cobalt and has been working well. As it comes with some different sizers, I imagine most boats can make use of it.

On our flat windshield, we seem to have lost one of the rubber inserts that allows it to operate. Does anyone have any inserts that they are not using so I could purchase one from them?

Although I have a thick rubber insert, I haven't used it yet. It would be my pleasure to part with it, let me know if you are interested. As it's at our boat, I may not be able to get it for a few weeks or so, just to let you know.

Selected User Reviews For CIPA 11073 Concept II Black 4" x 8" Marine Mirror

The visibility is fantastic! A great piece of kit that I can install myself, is easy to use, and lets me see clearly behind me! As a result, my cover fits well when not in use because it can easily be flipped down
5/5

This fitting is very secure! It is great that there are different sizes of rubber bushings. I like that there is no chrome that will corrode or pit. There won't be any rusting.

Concept II of CIPA 11073
3/5

The reason I ordered this boat mirror was that I read an Amazon product "Answer" from CIPA saying it would work well with a rail up to 1-1/4" thick. The windshield frame of my 1-inch boat will not even fit into it. the screw is loosened, the piece falls apart before it can fit onto the one-inch Instead of spending the (almost) $7 they want to return it, I'm going to try to get a slightly longer screw and see if it will enable the handle to be opened enough for the lock to work.

It mounts to any surface
3/5

There is something deceptive about this I have been waiting for a while for this item to be reviewed. We were curious to see what it would be like. We did not use the boat's mirror very much last season, since we did not have time to move it. In order to determine if we were using it properly or if we had a proper and safe place where it could be mounted, we wanted to give it a second season. I must say, here's where we have the beef. . . This is my first Amazon purchase and was very disappointed with the lack of information provided (prior to purchase) regarding the mounting options/requirements! Our only recourse was other customer reviews and photos, and what little we did have, was average. In deciding to purchase this, we wanted to ensure that it fits our boat and mounting location well. I've given up on finding a suitable and secure location to mount the thing after multiple (frustrating) attempts to do so! While it was mounted where it could 'possibly' work, the vibration and movement of the boat just caused it to come loose and or fall (almost into the lake a couple of In real life, the mirror would be a completely useless item for the driver if mounted where it actually would be used. There will be blind spots for the driver, the driver will have limited rearview perspectives (when it is affixed in a location that will keep it secure, therefore making it nearly impossible to use), not to mention, a huge distraction to the driver when it falls off or comes loose. Let me hope that you can comprehend what I'm trying to explain to you. I believe this mirror is listed as a 'UNIVERSAL mount mirror'. In addition to the product description, we found it more helpful to rely on the product reviews. We apparently made a big mistake taking a gamble on customer reviews. I conclude that if the mirror could be mounted, it would provide a better view of the rear than currently exists. It was too loosely used in the product description to refer to the mount as 'universal'. Our recommendation is to reword the description to something more suited to the purpose of the mounting.

It is a good mirror and would buy it again for the price
4/5

Great mirror, but one thing to note is that the clamp is much larger than a standard windshield clamp. I bought it on Amazon for half the price of buying it at a local shop so that was a small sacrifice on my part. I was pleased that I could do a minor adjustment and save over $45 on the same mirror.

You found a great piece of information
5/5

The top rail of the bimini was mounted beside the helm of my pontoon. I bought it for that purpose. There were no issues with the rails which are 1" square. My much more expensive pro mirror had just been returned and I have to say, this one is equally as good as the other. My boat was too small to mount the other one, nor could I get it to mount where I wanted it. Some people reported that putting on a bimini rail is too unstable. I have not found that to be true and I am able to raise it so the blind spot does not exist. Additionally, no problems were encountered when putting the covers on. In case I need to remove it, I can easily do so when lowering Bimini. This is a good book.

It has a difficult mounting process and a limited range
3/5

Mirrors are difficult for me to like, but I did my best. I like the size of this wakeboard boat for my 22' wakeboarding boat, but the mounting and range were a deal killer. Designed to fit a variety of windows, the clamp style mount comes with rubber spacers to accommodate various window sizes. I even had to use thin spacers to get it on because my window frames are 3/4" thick. When I drilled the screw threads into the bracket, those protruded into my frame, so I scratched the top of my window. Additionally, it was very annoying that I couldn't remove the mirror without an allen wrench, although I could fold it On my boat, I didn't have much luck due to the fact that I am a very mechanical person. In addition, the mirror had a very narrow field of view. There was a stiffness to the material, making it The device would eventually break, as I expected. In reality, it only moves from side to side. To move it up and down more than a few inches, you need to loosen a thumb screw.

The larger 7 x 14 CIPA mirror comes with a great mounting bracket with a thumb screw, so it can be easily put on and taken off. Moreover, it comes with an improved ball mount on the back, so you can get it adjusted at any angle. It is a better design even though the mirror is larger than I wanted, so I will stick with it.

Boats that can be used on all types of water are not recommended
4/5

The solution I came up with did work My experience with the program was positive. To make the rubber inserts work, I had to make some changes. To mount it, you'll need an Allen wrench. The material holds up Mirror quality is very good. Although it may not be the best choice Unfortunately, I was unable to make it work for my configuration.
