For those who need to protect valuables or weapons (in places where they're not allowed to carry them) this lock box lid for the floor board box in the backseat is an essential. Despite its robustness and ease of installation, it is relatively fast to install. While I had a somewhat more difficult time installing than others here, I enjoyed the process nonetheless. My 2018 Ram Rebel 1500 has been installed with it. It was a perfect fit with all holes lined up perfectly, and I tried installing it with and without the liner to see if that made any The liner did not work for me, so I installed it without it. I have a Glock 21 that fits in the holster well. I had a problem locking the lid when I tried to remove it. Due to the metal bar that turns into the locking mechanism (or whatever it is called) keeping running into the sidewall of the truck box, the locking mechanism couldn't turn all the way. Even with the lock turning all the way closed, I couldn't get it to close completely. I realized shortly afterward that the bar that swings to lock it is quite a bit longer than it should be and I am inclined to think that the lid came with the wrong lock. As a result, I took a saw and cut about half an inch away from the unnecessary part and the process started Now it does exactly what it is advertised to do! There was one thing wrong with it right out of the box and it needed a bit of a tweak, but for what it's worth I wouldn't do There is no doubt that this is essential, and it's now working flawlessly. During the initial receipt and installation of my 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie, unlocking and locking the lid has proven extremely difficult.

I had no problems installing the software. As a tall person, I drive with the seat pushed forward when I'm sitting down, with the only issue being the bin location/design of the original in floor storage. When the seat is fully reclined, the original lid comes in contact with the back of the seat. In order to open the Tuffy lid you have to lift it a little way and it will contact the seat. If you lift it too far and with too much force it can get jammed against the trim piece on the seat. To get it free we had to work a little bit. The rest of the process is straightforward and allows to secure a firearm in a vehicle as required by CA state law. With enough prybars or large/stout screwdrivers, it is unlikely that it would keep a determined criminal from breaking in, but no security system in this day and age is 100% secure.

This gun rack was purchased because the Ram I own does not have an interior lockbox and I needed a place to store my gun when I was inside certain areas. I am satisfied with the metal, as I feel safe knowing I won't accidentally open it or have a lock that might snap.

As long as you use the provided screws, it was really easy to install. No modifications were needed to the truck since it just popped right in. Furthermore, I still left the storage liner in there and it fits fine. With the lock on it, it sits nice and flat on the floor. A thief could not just snatch up your valuables and simply run away since the lid is made from thick steel, and the locking lid / frame is built this way, so he could not just smash and grab them. In fact, I have ordered the Tuffy underseat storage lid with a combination lock since I am so happy with the Tuffy products.

In an area where prying eyes cannot see it and a crowbar is needed to get inside. Taking out the inner liner completely was the first thing I did. There is a snug fit on the lid, and you have to press down quite a bit for the lock to It isn't a big deal, however. Product is excellent. I am very happy with it.
