The top is extra storage and the underside is a place for stuff to be private. Having items like a garage opener on top makes it easier for us to grab them.

This is what you need! Exactly what I was looking for! It appears to have come with the car originally. You can access the area beneath by sliding the lid in. The perfect size to hold small items such as keys, change, pens, and so forth. There is only one downside to this as well the interior light in this compartment uses the interior light underneath. However, this won't be.

It's unbelievable. This was a missed opportunity for Tesla. What Tesla should have done at the factory is include it. When not needed, lets you access the deep well by sliding up into the console. This is the best book I have ever read.
