Questions & Answers

Is this part compatible with a Jeep Liberty from the year 2004?

Yes, it is compatible with Jeep Liberty models from 2002 to 2007. Because of the differences in body styles, I'm not sure about 2008, but it worked just like OEM on my 2007 Jeep Liberty.

What equipment do you require?

A deep well 5 is the only unusual tool you'll need. Socket size: 5 mm The rest of the project is completed with standard hand tools. The A- is plugged into that socket. screws for pillar covers

Can I find instructions online if mine didn't come with them?

Yes, there are no instructions. I was able to find some helpful YouTube videos. It'll take you about 8 hours to complete the task. The entire headliner must be removed, as well as the entire sunroof assembly, and the best method is to remove the old and replace it one side at a time.

Looking at the parts for the 2004 Jeep Liberty, it appears that these parts can be installed without the headliner being removed. Anyone tried it yet?

This kit was purchased to repair the sunroof on my 2005 Jeep Liberty. My husband has been a mechanic for 30 years, and he had to remove the headliner, unfortunately. It would be nice if I could let you know because it is a pain. The kit, on the other hand, worked perfectly and took only a few hours to complete.

It works perfectly, but you must be mechanically inclined
5/5

This rebuild kit worked flawlessly, but you'll also need the following items: br>1) Mechanical aptitudebr>2) Patiencebr>3) Extra rail grease (white lithium grease)br>My Jeep Liberty is a 2002 model. From start to finish, this took me approximately 6 hours. The headliner has to be completely removed. YouTube has a few good videos on this subject. REMOVE THE SUNROOF GLASS ONCE THE HEADLINER HAS BEEN REMOVED. Disconnect the sunroof assembly's drain hoses. I also used air to blow the hoses out. The sunroof assembly on my car is held together by nine bolts. Simply read each step once you've completed the assembly and placed it on a table or bench. Keep a close eye on how the old components are removed. As a reference, I took numerous photographs of the original assembly. Setting the new rail glide assembly in the closed position was the most difficult part, and I wish I had taken a picture of it. When aligning the slide and glass mount bracket with the 1/8 drill bit, the drill bit must line up with another small hole in the glass mount bracket. You should be able to see straight through the holes once they've been lined up. I didn't get it right the first time, so when you replace the assembly and re-assemble it, make sure you follow the instructions carefully. When you install the glass, make sure it's fully closed and level with the roof. During the rebuild, I also used brake cleaner to clean out the rails and applied fresh grease; they send you a small container of grease, but it was insufficient. Because of the lack of detailed pictures, I rate the instructions a 6 out of 10. I tested the sun roof after finishing my installation before fully closing the headliner. Because of the wiring harnesses you'll need to plug back in for the sunroof, you'll need to slide the headliner back in, but don't fasten it in until you're certain it works. I'm overjoyed at how well this kit functions. It's far superior to the original in terms of quality. If you're not used to working on cars, don't try this on your own. It takes a lot of time. DO NOT SKIP ANY OF THE STEPS.

On a 2006 Jeep Liberty, it works perfectly
5/5

I installed this over a year ago and have had no issues or leaks since then! Although removal is a two-person job, it can be completed by one person. I couldn't remove the head liner because I didn't have any help. The grab handles, interior lights, and visors were all removed, if I recall correctly. You'll also need to take out the sunroof tray's motor harness, drains, and screws. I slid the tray out the back after lowering the headliner and disconnecting what I needed. The tray is much larger than you might think, and it's awkward to use for just one person. A rivet gun would be useful, but small screws could also be used on the new track. A small note about alignment during assembly is also included in the instructions. To keep the holes aligned, I believe I used a small screwdriver. This is not a difficult task, but it is time-consuming. If you have the opportunity, photograph the old assembly. Mine was broken, so I had to patch it up before putting a new one on to see how it looked. Re-enter and reconnect all of the connections, particularly the drains. The headliner was creased where I didn't take it out, but after a few weeks, it was back to normal. Product of high quality.

There was a lot of work involved, but it was eventually resolved! In this vehicle, you must remove the headliner, which is a major undertaking
5/5

I'm especially excited because I've never done anything like this before. It was extremely helpful to use YouTube. After you've removed the entire sunroof assembly from the vehicle, this kit includes clear instructions as well as all necessary hardware.

If you've never done anything like this before, stay away

The directions are as ambiguous as they come. The parts fit perfectly, but there are no instructions on how to adjust the top's fit or calibration.

It takes a lot of effort, but it pays off big time
5/5

If you have more time than money, this is a cheap fix that will take a lot of work and time. Factory-made junk, these Liberty sunroofs. Because they're in such high demand, you won't be able to find a used one in a salvage yard, so this kit is about the only solution available, but it works well.

Because I hadn't yet disassembled the existing system, this worked perfectly and was relatively simple to install.
