Over time, we found that the original running boards on our bought new 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500 Crew Cab diesel had worn out. As I considered whether to replace the plastic insert that was on the driver's side or remove them and just do without, I came across these MaxMate brand replacements. According to their website, they are no longer in production, so they are no longer available for purchase. Our kids and now grandkids need these new running boards because of the step up of our 4 wheel drive truck. My wife and I have not used the stock running boards in a long time but my kids and grandchildren need them, so I decided to buy these new It is a big leap to upgrade to this vintage of 4X4, since it is nothing like the newer models, but it is still a huge step up! Having bought the MaxMate running boards a couple of months ago, it has taken some time for me to replace the stock boards with them however, I finally did it last Labor Day (2017) weekend. It was very simple to figure out and install these parts, even though the directions and parts looked like they would be a bit complicated. There were color-coded plastic rails and brackets for the driver's side and passenger's side, a green one for the driver's side, and a blue one for the passenger. They are well made and all fit perfectly. The chrome work on them is excellent and the bracketry holding them to the cab is well made. A total of two and a half hours were required for the swap. I like the way they look.

They also install quickly and without any trouble. It's a good idea to take real pictures of the words to add them to the directions, but line drawings to assure proper placement might have made it easier since the black and white pictures are hard to read on paper. I still feel- I was able to figure it out without any problems. As a response to some reviews saying that they are cheap, here is what I have to say- After I just sold a truck with fancy aftermarket running boards from the dealer that are the same style, I am putting the same style on a different truck. I agree - They are a little flexier than the previous ones. I agree - There is a need for the middle brace as opposed to the shoulder brace. Others that are more expensive do not have that feature. In addition, I believe it is important. I agree - The tighter fit makes them well worth the cost, as well as the very easy installation. They are half the price of the "high end ones" and unless they break down more quickly, they are very hard to break!.

When the NERF bars were delivered for the first time, It was time for me to remove my old NERF bars and install the new ones. are not as good as we would have liked, but they are still Mounting the nerf bars to the brackets is the last step in the installation. I could not screw a bolt into one nut in each of the nerf bars because it had some weld in it. Amazon took the return for me and sent me a new nut. In order to be sure the nerf bars were cleanly welded before I began the installation, I checked them before I began. It didn't cause any issues. Once the installation began, I found that one of the nuts on each of the center support brackets was slightly off center and had to be adjusted. The bolt was unable to go through the hole in that case. The Amazon customer service representative told me, "We're sorry, only one return per item. ". Since there is just one bolt mounting the nerf bar to each support, I did not require fitting two bolts into each support. As you can see from the picture, this is not satisfactory, so I will remove the support and see if I can have it ground off and re-assembled by a reputable shop It is important to properly weld them. The nerf bars are cool in terms of everything else. It's just the welders that cause me problems.

There is no way to get a better deal than this on these step bars. The phrase, "you get what you pay for," gets a new meaning in this context. I looked around and saw that prices ranged from 3% to 10% For 400 dollars I settled on a cheaper option, and I regret it very much. It would be too dangerous for me to use them because I weigh around 250 pounds. Children are about the only ones who can use these, now I just have these bars sticking out of my truck, which makes it more difficult to get into. Those steps are to be replaced with sturdier ones of higher quality.

We had original running boards that were falling apart after 250,000 miles, making it difficult for my Sweetie to get into I used MaxMates in place of my existing brackets, and they bolted up without any problems. The hardest part was removing the original rusted on bolts. I can get to the bed without getting muddied while my gal can get in and out without help. They are a great deal, for sure. Fast delivery, easy installation, and a good price make these a REAL DEAL.
