It really does fit very well, but the metal underlayment can wear out over time. As the P says, this is what you get when you drive something for years with the rubber worn off of the pedals. It was only able to do that because of this Jeep. It appears they can be pried off even with some 3M weatherstrip adhesive, since I used it to allow for wear. Having my shoes not slip off of my feet when they're wet is quite nice. I recommend it. Therefore, I strongly recommend that you replace yours now before they wear out.
In order to ride my '00 TJ, I purchased two Dorman 20780 pedal pads. I have been driving with them for a week and so far I'm happy with them. Keeping them for pedal pads is a good idea because they look like OEM pads and they are durable. I could use the 20780 for both my clutch and brake pedals.
(Inspect the back of the pedal after installation to determine if all the tabs are securely attached over the edges. The corner that looks like it should be slid on first looks like it has to be done.
The fact that (it's a good thing) motivates others. This is the second time I've purchased this product. I purchased it for my severely worn clutch pedal the first time. I found that to be an ideal solution. The brake pedal pad on my bike also wore all the way through a year or so later. I was amazed by how well it fit and how easy it was You just need to take off the old one and replace it with this new one. Starting on one side, then stretching the rest over the pedal, seemed to be the simplest method. Make sure it's on all the way in the back by running your hands around the side. On all four sides, you should feel the rubber tabs extending over the metal. This is what I had installed on my '98 Jeep Happy with the outcome.
I'm so impressed! I will give it a 4 because it seems to fit fine. The sombitch is a little stinky (they smell like dirty oily asphalt) probably due to it being a China product, but nonetheless it seems to work. I can't smell it from the driver's seat, and the smell will probably diminish over time. I say go.
The perfect replacement for the old one. A similar clutch pad can be found at the stock market. After a few months, the cover fell off of my Jeep 2000. It was very worn when I got it and I had to buy a new cover. In rain or snow, I had trouble keeping my foot on the clutch when my shoes were wet. As soon as I got the replacement, it was such a relief not to slip on the clutch. Exactly the same as the original.
For my 97 Jeep TJ, both brake and clutch pedals were worn through to the metal. When I purchased these pedal covers, they replaced the worn-through metal pedals. Despite the fact that it took me less than a minute to install them, they look absolutely stunning. The items I purchased from this retailer would be happy to be purchased again if I The $6 was well worth it.
If I can glue it on, I will do so.
The pad is an exact match to the original brake pad and clutch pad on my Jeep Wrangler YJ 94. The clutch pad was all I had to replace. My new replacement appeared to be just as durable as the old one and was very easy to install. Having purchased this product, I am very satisfied with it and will gladly purchase one again when my brake pads wear.
