I am in love with the new design of this press because the original knob lever broke, it was constructed entirely out of I found it difficult to put the car in drive, and removing the key and putting it in park was equally difficult. In addition, the chrome knob presses on to the lever after installation, making it seem like a heavier piece of plastic. We found that the installation takes patience and aligning the pin was essential, the small parts and limited line of sight made it challenging in the beginning, but this was well worth it in the end. This product does not include or have the small rubber piece that comes with the original product. * That piece must be reused from the original item. * This product has a GM factory part number, however our local dealership does not have it in stock or as an available item.
In the original, the color of the cap was a lighter silver, while the dark silver on the new one is dark. The instructions were easy to follow, although there was one part that was missing It was salvaged by me from the old one without causing any damage to it, so I Those in 2015 should be able to use it For both the 2015- and 2018 Trax, the shifter is the same.
Apparently there was no problem with the shifter before the repair and it appears as if nothing was ever wrong. One thing I dislike is there are no instructions, and that's to be expected in an auto repair shop. This is a different setup (better) than the original and I couldn't find it anywhere else on the internet. As soon as I figured out how to do it, I felt ecstatic to have a shifter button again.
I was told the job would cost $400. To my great delight I found out my problem is common and it can be easily fixed! A newly installed cover can be accessed without removing the old one. As for removing the case, it is the hardest part and requires a little bit of time, but in the end it is pretty.
It was a perfect fit in my 2012 Chevy Sonic. I just wanted to let you know Do not throw away your broken parts until you put the new ones together, because there is a little rubber part that is not included in.
I was able to fix my issue completely. is a bit challenging since the parts do not fit together the same way as the factory plastic parts. Compared with the original design, this is much better.
With my 2013 Sonic, the shifter button broke. With this replacement kit I am able to replace every part. The plastic is so cheap that you will probably break them when removing it so I had one chance at getting it right, and I got it right this time.
In 15 minutes, I found a youtube video on how to fix my broken one and replaced it. (It probably would have taken less time if I had known how to do it previously. ) So far it has been working great! I have it in for about two months now.
