AMP Research 75322-01A Bedstep Retractable Bumper Step for 2019-2020 Ram 1500, Black

After I purchased the OEM step at the Mopar part store, it was advertised as fitting dual exhaust, but sadly, it didn't fit due to the exhaust being For the moment, it appears that only AMP is an option. In my position, I was able to compare the OEM and AMP side by side. Amp uses multiple pieces for the main mount that you have to bolt together, the OEM is much more solid and robust. In addition to quality issues, I found multiple problems with the bumper step on AMP. Other commenters have noted that the bolt doing the job is not long enough to pass through the frame, meaning a trip to the hardware store is needed so that it can be adjusted. There is a manual that states you need T25 screws for the steps while the screws that were supplied were T20. A picture manual will not suffice since the interface is pictorial, and online videos are not available. It will be difficult to figure out where the bolts go. I found the product to be disappointing in general.

To me, it seems like a bit of overkill for what it is, but it's cheaper than a MOPAR. This game fails to impress in terms of engineering and cutouts. I think those reviews are exaggerating, since they aren't great but they were certainly adequate for me. You will not be able to reinstall the nuts once you remove the stock nuts and slide the unit over the bolts - this is because the bumper will have no extra clearance for the nuts. For this step, I thought a new review was needed.
Product is fine on its own - no complaints It was a bit of a pain to install Some people likely had a harder time than others, but not by as much.
An apparent solution has been found to whatever problem AMP had with bolts. The instructions are confusing and I'd been told I needed to drill a bigger hole or buy an extra bolt. There aren't enough pictures, or the diagrams aren't clear enough. There is an AMP video dated after 2012 on how to install! There is no help for a 2019 model in this old video! It's important to ensure that the two halves are installed properly The bad diagram (step 2) is shown below. In my case, I had mine angled incorrectly, and that took a while to realize. You can't use the ratchet wrench in all the mounting points, and that's just poor design (you need the manual wrench sometimes). I like the product but it isn't that great. AMP Your instructions need updating and a video is needed!.

Having the ability to get up and load stuff at the same time allows for better coordination. The new redesign of the 2019 Ram 1500 also required a bigger bracket. There are only pictures in the installation instructions, and they are not very good. Designed with instructions, they seem to be for people who know exactly what they are doing (and do not require instruction). In about an hour, I was able to install it. This is a sturdy item. I like the way it works and how it looks. With this, I am able to get to my truck bed much more easily. Considering the price, they should include some simple instructions, in English, for something at that price. When I first finished connecting it, I had it backwards, because that is how the picture shows. I had to undo it and then turn it. general, I am satisfied with it. It is what I wanted, and its quality is excellent.

In the directions, the frame hole is shown as a no drill item, but through some production change of the truck, a use different than the one in the directions has been assigned. In order to put it on, either I have to drill a hole in my brand new truck, which means rust protection, or there is a way for me to avoid getting hot metal chips on me while drilling. There was no way I expected to pay $260 for a pair of jeans and then have to return them Engineering student! It is a very useful item once it is installed, I wouldn't want to do without it. In fairness, after living with and using the step for a little over a month, I found it durable, convenient to use and easy to operate.
